[inquisitr] Xbox One May Have Sold Wii U Better Than Nintendo. - Page 9

Mandatory Kinect killed it for me. I dislike kinect for a number of reasons, and since the device can (apparently) not function without the addon, I'm out.

this has to be the ugliest console that has been produced thus far lol. but at least now we know, what happens when you recycle a VCR, the outer shell is recycled into an xbox one shell, uh.

First and foremost, the Xbox One is a gaming console. It just so happens that it can do a lot more now. Everybody knows it can play games (it would be surprising if it didn't) so the reason for the reveal was so that they can show case everything it can do - games and more.

As for me, all of the "issues" being brought up are non-issues to me.

Internet needed? No problem. All of my consoles are connected to it all the time so I can play multiplayer (mainly) and other stuff that requires a connection.

Kinect needed to function? No problem. I don't even own a connect (never wanted one) but if it comes with the console I don't see an issue with it being required to function. Not like you have to buy it as a secondary item to function.

Used games? No problem. I rarely buy used games anyway. I don't even lend any games out, far too many times have people stolen, broke, and "lost" the games I've lent out.

No backwards compatibility? No problem. That's a reason why I have never sold any of my previous consoles to begin with. So I can play any game I want without worry.

Not everybody is going to agree but I really can't stand all of the nonsensical over reacting about a measly little game console.

true. full time spy device inside your home right in your living room or bedroom. the invasion of privacy that will occur or be exploited if 'necessary' by Microsoft and their Gov friends will be legendary and the average console numpty wont care enough.

Examples of what the tech can achieve:

. MS watch you and your friends watch a movie and auto-bill you for the extra people
. MS checks a file and the watermark is missing proving to them its not a legit Disc / image and you are billed or added to a 3 strikes system before law involvement
. MS Looks at products in the living room and bedroom so they can sell you marketing information but not pay you money for the privilege of their free billions in money making
. MS face scans not only you but also the family pictures in your room, with the ability to 'pan and scan' a bit like a low tech blade runner movie scene picking out information to put on the big friendly social database
. Your on a watch list, you don't know why it might be a false positive picked out from a computer algorithm and the camera is recording you and your activities

Random not ever going to happen one:

. Your a crazy teen and you smoke pot and have sex under age .. call the PO-lice because your parental control is set to high and the kinect detected sexy gyrations (i realize that is sig worthy)

Paranoid or not, true or not. This tech allows all of the above and you have only 'XboxOne' choice .. To trust Microsoft and all their intentions and never worry about anything that may be exploited from this invasion.

It is no longer just a console its a corporate spy tool. Its not about if you care or not its about acknowledging that's how companies work now with phones then accepting this is taking one big step over the line from that

while the xbox one looks horrible, how that presentation could possibly convince people to buy the wii u is a mystery to me. The xbox one may look crappy from an exclusive standpoint, but at least it will run third party games with good hardware and will have good integration with an entertainment center.

Nintendo's wiiu has... mario, and the rest of their rehashed titles running on crappy hardware. And the thing is, they market their console as a gaming system. That's the laughable part. If microsoft actually cared and marketed their consoles as primarily a gaming system, they would create a great product, just like the first xbox.

Apple and Nintendo sadly convinced Microsoft to change its marketing to appeal to the casual non gamer due to the big bucks they were (Nintendo) pulling in. I don't blame Microsoft for this at all.

Nope, I turn 3G off if I'm not using it because that saves a tonne of battery life. Everyone I know does this. You may still be connected to the network for texts, calls, etc but that's it. You need 3G for actual data.

Not really, I can still read kindle, use it as a torch, (Very useful considering how damn bright my HTC One's LED is.) listen to music, watch movies, write notes, etc. Most of what I do on my phone doesn't actually need any connection at all, texting and the like is just on the side.

It's kind of hard to use the phone in this argument because at the very least a smartphone can still perform its original function to the point where EVERYONE and their mother already knows a smartphone can make phone calls just as easily (sometimes even better) than phones of the past. I don't necessarily think the problem is the Xbox One being more than a gaming console. The problem is it's more than a gaming console and putting the features, that a lot of us don't care about in the first place, ahead of the market that helped make who they are right now in the first place. "Oh hey, thanks for the money, gamers........yea we'll get back to you in a minute HEY GUYS! biggrin.gif Wanna see something neato?! 'Xbox, On. Xbox, TV.' Isn't that cool?! biggrin.gif"

Exactly.

The Wii U plays videogames almost exclusively how is that not a "gaming console"?
