[inquisitr] Xbox One May Have Sold Wii U Better Than Nintendo. - Page 10

My predictions for the future generation of consoles:

PS4: only hardcore "gaming" console left for "mature" gamers (at least this is going to be what people say). Primarily picked up by people without good gaming PCs, but it will win and have the most support, leading to great exclusives, so it has potential to pull in PC gamers.

Wii U: popular with gamers who have a PC and looking for that unique Nintendo experience in games, casual gamers, etc. Basically the old Wii crowd with some of the PC + WiiU crowd. I have a feeling Nintendo will fall back to more difficult games and try and re-capture the charm to get the 20 somethings who loved Nintendo as kids to pick up WiiU.

Xbox One: popular with the "lel brah i'm so swag lets play CoD and get blazed brahhh", but only if they have a "nerd" sibling or friend who can somehow get their Xbox One onto the internet. It will get a bad reputation as being the kind of console that "lol big bang theory is so funny lets play football on TV!" people like to play. As enthusiasts and being technically literate, we will more than likely have to "connect them xboxes to them internets" for at least one technically inept mouth breather who wants to watch BIG BONG THORY while Skyping.

Imagine if you couldn't type a word document on your computer because it wasn't connected to the internet? Imagine if you couldn't watch TV because the TV wasn't connected to the internet? Imagine not being able to listen to music on your ipod because it's not connected to the internet? Disabling a devices core functionality due to something that is not even RELATED TO THE DAMN THING IS LITERALLY RETARDED.

I can't believe people are defending this.

It's hardware in the console is cheaper but you don't get an entire 1080p retooled Kinect 2 with the PS4.

The xbox one may look crappy from an exclusive standpoint, but at least it will run third party games with good hardware and will have good integration with an entertainment center.

Nintendo's wiiu has... mario, and the rest of their rehashed titles running on crappy hardware. And the thing is, they market their console as a gaming system. That's the laughable part. If microsoft actually cared and marketed their consoles as primarily a gaming system, they would create a great product, just like the first xbox.

Apple and Nintendo sadly convinced Microsoft to change its marketing to appeal to the casual non gamer due to the big bucks they were (Nintendo) pulling in. I don't blame Microsoft for this at all.
What?
I put the disc in my wii u and it plays the game. How is that not a gaming system?

Good, all the casuals will head over there and hopefully PS4 can provide quality gaming tongue.gif

Things like the Xbox One only work with technology because people still don't know a lot about it if anything, on top of the majority of the gaming community being complete idiots. Case 'n point how many people will defend DLC being cheat codes (Uncharted 3), receiving the same thing/worse products every year (CoD), disc-locked content (Gears 3, SFxT), and they still make money for it?

No. I have better things to do such as trying to stay warm. What I will say to your post is that, what you are describing is the draw back to the always connected world, I have no issues with the Xbox One needing an internet connection, I clearly have it, and other than Hurricane Sandy, I have not had extended black outs of my internet. But that is exactly my point, I am on the East Coast of America, Everyone I know has internet, thus I and my friends are all their target audience, aka the east coast.
I think we have the same feelings towards this subject matter, unless I am misinterpreting you, or you are misinterpreting me (or I am not being clear) thumb.gif

I am angry at anyone who expects me to have an internet connection for entertainment purposes. With Time Warner pretty much owning my area keeping a connection isn't cheap and they keep raising the bill. At some point it isn't going to be worth it anymore. My phone carrier sent me a tower to improve my signal at home that requires an internet connection. Steam sometimes require the same. Downloaded some fairly large games on my phone only to be hit with the message that I must have an wift connect to download these things. Internet connections aren't free. I want the future to make things easier, not harder. If things keep heading in the same direction the internet will be a tax on any entertainment media that we wish to enjoy and if Time Warner still owns my area those taxes will not be low.

I understand that little is known about the Xbox One. I just tried to put on a small online game on steam. Actually been trying to play with a friend for the last 3 nights. First we had problems with their steam not working right. After redownloading everything we finally get things going tonight. Log into the game only to find both of us randomly drop out of the game as if our internet connection was spotty. Shortly after that steam completely crashes for both of us. No more online gaming for tonight either. Doesn't really bother me. I knew going into this steam could be a hassle to work with. So I stick with only buying the steam games I really want and only paying for them when they are cheaper than what I could get them used for. The same applies for the PSN games. I can't resale them, PSN gets hacked I can only play them for a certain amount of time before they are disabled until they can connect again to the internet to check in.

I will never pay full price for something that I consider entertainment when they are offering me less than what I'm use to paying for. Those PS3 games that come with CD codes when you buy them as rewards for buying them new, I don't use them. I resale with the cards still in the box. Every time I've used the DLC cards it either A) only opened MP which I didn't have any interest in or B) It gave me some overpowered item that completely unbalanced my game, or C) Random story DLC that was nothing more than a distraction from the main storylines. DLC's can work if done right but this isn't the thread for it.

Getting back on topic on this TLDR post I've made. I don't have a full understanding on what MS is doing with the Xbox One. However, I get the feeling that I'm not part of their audience. I do plan to get the PS4 but unlike other fanboys I understand that in order to force Sony to keep pushing out the things I've been enjoying it requires that they have a competitor on equal, better, or slightly less footing. With that being said, I am happy that at least some of us on OCN are backing MS.

Doesn't Steam have a policy in place saying if they close down they'll let you keep all the games you've ever purchased from them?

Don't they also allow you stay offline for around three months before having to phone home?

Anyone trying to justify this "being always online" point of view is nuts.
