And my fault i mis read the first post smile.gif, i thought you said pc a could see 2 pc b could see 7,

I wouldnt suppose you know much about wireshark do you?
Its not completely your fault smile.gif I might have mistyped or incorrectly explained myself. Lets try again.

PC A going to (example) \\SERVER\Folder sees 2 folders inside. But going to its IP, as in \\192.168.1.23\Folder we see 7 folders. If we physically go to that server, entering thru its My PC, we can see that there are physically 7 folders at that location.

And yes, I tried using Wireshark while plugged into a port that mirrored all the ports on the switch to make sure I saw all traffic in case its something else.

I want to note that this happens sometimes and other times it doesnt. We are about 12-14 people in the office all on 1000mb network. I mention this because this shouldnt generate too much traffic.

Using Wireshark, when this happens, I see that as soon as the person trys to open the file, a couple of HTTP petitions happen to what seems to be a Dropbox related URL.. When it doesnt happen, these petitions are absent. I closed Dropbox on her PC but same thing happened (even with Dropbox closed). I dont think its a Dropbox related issue as it would be strange.

Any issue with this and Dropbox?

Drop wireshaek onto either the server or the cient smile.gif

The start a capture using the filter

ip.src == || ip.dst ==

So the ip would be that of the other machine (if its on client servers ip used and vice versa)

Then im assuming that the server is just acting as a file sever here, not as gateway nor email nor anything else that the computer would connect to in the background? (if it is add the filter || tcp.port ==445 || tcp.port 135)

Then try each. once, this should give you just the file requests and such and you can look for any differnces in the two, tis the only thing i can think of im afriad redface.gif

Since I recieve all traffic from all clients in my network since Im plugged into a port where all the traffic is mirrored this filter:

(ip.src == {client ip} && ip.dst == {server ip}) || (ip.src =={server ip} && ip.dst =={client ip} )

Should be enough right?

Ill try this complete filter as I tried a simpler one.

Me too.  In fact, the OP's post I quoted, and my post in response are both missing, too.  Seems nefarious to me, all I did was answer his pleading question honestly.  I have some possible insight into his network problem, but if my posts are going to mysteriously disappear, and/or facts are going to be consistently changing on us, I see no reason to continue.
