So one could have a gun and bullets, but wont be able to do much harm, because it would get detected. Undetectable weapons is very horrifying!! Still pleased to know that tech is progressing biggrin.gif

Sabotage is the best undetectable weapon.

Sorry you're scared.

I wonder who is behind all this "hysteria" about guns and 3D printers. Or which industry perhaps. Which industry or rich person see's 3D printers as a threat to their revenue and wants them banned/regulated ect.

This continuous stream of news stories about using 3D printers to make guns seems awfully contrived and one sided when any reasonable person can see that anyone with an ounce of experience and some tools can manufacture their own guns, but this fact is always ignored in favor of hype and speculation.

It all seems like an attempt to get the idiot masses to think that everyone getting 3D printers is going to use them to make untraceable machineguns for all the criminals. Pretty soon we're going to see idiot politicians blathering on about the "threat" that 3D printers pose.

That list could be endless seeing as much of what we buy these days is made from cheap plastic everyone from lego through to furniture producers dreads the day you see affordable quality 3d printing in the home. As an example just walk round your home now and eye up whats made of cheap molded plastics, now imagine how many companies would sink if you could make all those items easily and cheaply yourself. Further than that if all that cheap imported stuff then stopped being imported as it wasn't wanted imagine the lost taxes and revenues to governments at both ends of the import/export equation.

In brief nobody wants consumers to have affordable quality 3d printers in the home as it would switch them from consumers to producers.

Now that I think about it this way, I'm surprised the reaction isn't stronger than we're seeing it. I can't wait to see what ridiculous taboo thing will be printed and make the news next.

Big deal. Like a gun, I'd much rather use my old tried and true method for making ammo (something I've been doing for 30 years now) ...

Yep, for the price of a good printing setup you could just get a press/tumbler/other and make legit ammo. This whole printed ammo thing is a "because we can" not a "its a feasible option for mass production" type of deal.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

100% agree, don't see what the big deal is that someone managed to print a pretty useless gun and some ammo, when anyone with cnc or lathe or casting could make one for the last many years.
