I know of and have seen reviews of only 2 aftermarket coolers so far.

The EVGA ACX, and the Gigabyte Windforce.

If ur not going to go water cooling, then get a aftermarket version with a better cooler.

If ur going SLI, find out how close they will end up being to each other, if ur lucky and u have nice spacing of ur PCI-E x16 ports on ur motherboard, u can get away with any cooler type.
For example the Asus P9x79 Pro that i have has the X16 SLI PCI-e slots as far apart as possible. At Slot 1 and Slot5, with 2 x8 slots and 1x 1 slot between them giving plenty of room for breathing space.

If they are going to end up completely sandwiched up together then a Blower type cooler that exhausts air out the back would be better.

My motherboard is the ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155. It only has two PCI-E 3 slots. (x16/0 or x8/x8) And while they wouldn't be sandwiched together there would only be a half inch of space between them. And water-cooling would be a decent idea. I've seen how well a Titan runs on water. . .tempting. But, I'm almost certain I want to go sli when I have the money. Maybe water-cool then.

Man I'm never gonna stop buying parts for my computer. wth.gif

Here's my motherboard

Once you add an extra one or two cards it can get very hot, puts a lot more heat in the case, so CPU and motherboard etc have to deal with that heat as well. That's where blower type cards like the Titan cooler have the edge by dumping that heat straight out the back of the case. I'm running two Windforce 'Triple fan' blower 7950's and there is a fair bit of heat in the case, the 'Titan cooler' design that is also on the GTX 780 is really efficient, I would go for that. EVGA or Gigabyte for the best warranty.

Very informative good sir. I'll just playa round with the fan curve as I did with my 670. No worries then then. have you used Gigabyte? I've always been loyal to EVGA for my gpu purchases. Would be a bit nervous switching now. Knowing how Asus is with RMA it makes me nervous about any other gpu manufacturer other than EVGA.

With GPU Boost 2.0, your GPU temperatures are very important to the overclocking/boost clock of the card. It is really important to keep your GPU temperature as low as possible. Your chassis temperatures really won't have any impact on performance, and plus if you have good airflow the difference is minimal.

If it were a SFF PC, I would choose blower.

Ultimately though, you can't really go wrong with either, they are both good but suitable in slightly different scenarios. If fan noise isn't a problem the blower is good as you can crank the fan, get good temps + all hot air exhausted.

I game with a headphones. Noise is never a problem unless I can't hear the call for dinner. thumb.gif

Yeah my GPU's are Gigabyte, mobo as well. EVGA and Gigabyte by far my favorite vendors. You know you will get a solid product and decent support if you needed it. If I was buying a 780 it would be the EVGA with Titan style cooler for sure.

The 780 is a rebranded Titan. Don't waste your money IMHO. The 770 is a rebranded 680 with no changes.
Quote:
OEMs can flash current GTX680 inventory with the GTX770 BIOS, peel off the branding sticker, and slap a new one on. Viola, instant, “all new” GPU! No one will ever know because this scheme is far too clever for end users to figure out, right? Except that it is weeks before launch and everyone now knows, and those that don’t know as of right now probably will by the end of the day

EVGA's website just got more 780 gtx in. Pulled the trigger on the stock cooler. Got the SC version since it was only $10 more. I won't be able to sleep now. wheee.gif

It's an Titan LE basically and performs almost as well as a titan for $350 less. The 780 GTX is to the titan as the 670 gtx was to the 680 gtx. And the 770 GTX is to be a higher clocked 680 gtx. And it will be able to use GPU boost 2.0 so it is an improvement. And I just wasted my money. I wasn't really asking if I should get one or not. . .My mind was made up already. thumb.gif

If you want to watercool in the future, you need a reference card.
And out of the two options, if you are going to SLI, the stock cooler is the best.
for just 1 card, no watercooling, get the windforce.

Go for the blower style stock cooler if you plan to sli
