yeah i cant do headphones i gotta be able to hear if someone is breaking in so i can blast a motha facker in real time. call me paranoid but one day you may be the next rape statistic. I would go stock cooler for now man. with outside 3rd party VGA cooler companies you can always upgrade the cooler later better air or water if that is you, i bought a evga with a "better cooler" and can tell you it was OVER RATED people reported better temps with stock and my case has plenty of air flow got my own after market after that and couldnt be happier. plus the stock on the 780 looks BEAST!!!!

I would go with the gigabyte windforce 3x, that cooler is quiet, good and cold. Cooling my gtx 670 1280mhz pretty good. Never goes above 65 C with 60% on fans.

Evga ACX hands down. Evga makes better gpu's than Gigabyte by a long shot. Gigabyte's gpu's ranked last, when it came to the 600 series extreme versions btw. My 670 FTWs run in the 56-60C range at load with stock fan curve@1333mhz core/3707 memory

Gigabyte do make good cards. The 500 series had good gigabyte cards. Im running one now whislt i wait till i buy a 780. Its a Gigabyte 560ti SuperOC edtion.
Cant say much for the 600 series tbh, most the top rated ones were EVGA or Asus DCII's.

For the 780, i would recommened waiting. Currently the only ones available are using stock PCB layouts and just have new coolers. Not to say they are bad or anything, just syaing there is likely to be better ones released very soon. I for one am looking forward to see what Asus releases.
EVGA does have their hydro copper coming soon which uses a custom PCB by the looks of it, it has 2 8pin connectors instead of 1 8 and 1 6 that much is known. However it is ofc for water cooled rigs, so if u want a custom PCB designed 780 for air cooling ur gunan have to wait longer.
