Steamrollers

Are they gunna be 8 cores?

Going for a dual 7970 crossfireX setup, wondering if the 8350 would be adequate vs the steamroller chip.

Or if there's pcie 3.0 coming out with the new boards, and if that would make much difference with dual crossfire setups?

we dont know yet because it hasnt been realeased yet and 3.0 is not much of improvement over pcie 2.0

So think it's worth waiting for then? Seeming as its going to be next year some time.. It's quite a while away.

the 9970's or whatever is out at the time would likely beat two 7970's right?

I'm thinking the best thing for me to do would be just to save up, and buy an entirely new system when steamroller and the new ati cards are out, rather than going crossfire with an 8350 under water at 5ghz

I don't think Excavator is coming out in 2014, and it will be on a different socket. Steamroller is slated for 2014 release, and to OP - yes I would probably wait!
