They primary thing they have going for them at the moment is the Never Settle bundle.

Exactly. Even one $139 3TB HDD is going to suit nearly everyones needs.

Anyway, HW acceleration for HEVC (H.265) or VP9 support would be pretty cool, maybe next gen. cards will have it.

I barely notice it, game running off of my WD Black 1TB or Crucial M4 256GB, FRAPs recording to my Seagate ST3000DM001 3TB.

It's like... infinity times better than fraps smile.gif

Records on multiple drives, records multiple audio sources to a different channel, causes almost no framedrop, filesize is A LOOOOT better, the list goes on.

Dxtory.com
You'll thank me later!

I record audio in Audacity anyway, both game and any other sources I want then add it to the video later, it lets me balance it easily and properly.

Is this a big deal or the NV fan boys just making a big deal ?

FRAPS ? LOL who uses that ? Start using DXTORY with largi's codec then you'll notice the small file size with a nice quality.

____

I just read the first two pages of this thread, I guess people do know about DXtory lol ( by looking at the last pages -6 )

Dxtory does a better job.

Multiple Audio sources is a huge plus, but image quality isn't any better than FRAPS, or the differences are less than marginal.
Besides you can easily record a separate audio source with Audacity which is free.
It by default does on-the-fly encoding, as the Nvidia tech will do. If you record with no compression file sizes are the same as Fraps.
It is a great recording tool but it isn't leaps and bounds better than Fraps, it just has a lot more features, while fraps is good at 1 thing.

Dxtory works perfectly well with my drive, my samsung F1 works fine with dxtory and at that time it was running windows7 and other programs at the same time. Image quality is upto you, low or high. Why have two programs; one two record your game play and one program for sound ( audicity ) when this is can do all in 1 ?

My concluson
The NV fan boys are going to back their NV product obv.
Fraps uses never tried dxtory
Dxtory users are happy lol

I think you missed the whole point of this technology.

All software solutions use the CPU, hence performance hit . A dedicated hardware counterpart is a better solution. The whole argument about which software is better is irrelevant. Apples to oranges.

You miss the point entirely.
1) It's no hassle setup.
2) It's hardware encoding.

These two are huge points for the masses who don't want a complex setup nor have great hardware.

All you need to do in Dxtory is to set the destination folder. You don't HAVE to choose codecs, inputs, clipping, scaling, format etc, but the settings are there for the advanced user.
Also, I have absolutely NO performance hit using dxtory, even my crappy 4330s laptop keeps up.
