Can graphics card that only freezes your PC be repaired ?

Hi, as the title says so i have an ASUS ATi Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 and i found that the graphics card is one that it hangs my PC sometimes for example while browsing on the Internet doesn't matter which browser, sometimes when scrolling etc... but i'm not getting any lines, pixels...etc but it just "freezing and crashes" so can this graphics card be fixed if i sent it to an computer expert service because it isn't under warranty to get replaced it ? Thanks!

You probably have a defective card, but you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the ATI Catalyst Control Center. That might fix any issues that you are experiencing. Does the card perform strangely during games? Or just the browser? If only the browser it could be something browser/plug-in based, in which I would recommend trying another browser. Lastly, pull the card out and reseat it, making sure everything is tight and secure.

P.S. - Sending the card to get it fixed will be too expensive, if you can even find a place to fix it. You are better off selling this one as-is and buying a better card.

Thanks for your answer but i've already tried everything i can do so even i re-installed the operating system, installed the new ati catalyst driver, also forgot to say that sometimes it even freez up windows 7 while booting exactly in the "starting windows" !

Huh, "starting windows" freeze could also be HDD, Memory, even the processor. Me thinks that another part is defective instead of the graphics card.

But it won't with the "onboard graphics card" biggrin.gif

This is a stretch but if you have nothing to lose you could try researching baking your graphics card in the oven. Seems crazy but as a last resort repair its effective. Especially on an older card out of warranty, which is the only time it should be used.
