Well after 5 years of not having a PC, I'm back. (come in if you care lol)

So my last build (5 years ago) was top of the line stuff, I'm talking a q6600, 680i board, and a sweet HD5850. As you can see that stuff is all ancient now, and I've lost almost all memory of how to properly setup a PC (not really). I was just hoping you guys can look over my setup and tell me if I should immediately stop transaction on anything lol Here is the new setup:

Raidmax smilodon - silver

Crucial SSD 64gb

WD 1TB backup drive

Creative sound blaster audigy se 7.1

Corsair TX 650w power supply

Arctic silver 5 (lol)

Crucial ballistix 8gb ram

ASRock z77 extreme4 motherboard

Intel i5-3570k 3.4ghz CPU

Corsair hydro h60 water cooling

Galaxy GTX 660 - X2 Sli

Samsung S23A700D - 23 inch 120hz lcd

Also, I only play one game. Yep, a single game, that's it. I play Battlefield 3. All I want is 100+fps on high or ultra (to take advantage of that shiny new monitor). Will I need to crank up this CPU or these cards very much to get what I want at 1080p? I'm already having anxiety about the $1500 I just spent, I hope I don't need better cards lol Any input is welcome, thank you.

Oh and would it be wise to install windows 7 or 8 for gaming these days? Thanks in advance.

The Raidmax Smilodon is one of the worst cases on the market, the ASRock Extreme4 under-reports processor voltage, and the H60 is old and inefficient. Give me a few and I'll get you some better parts.

I chose that smilodon because of the fold out tray for the MB, I have never seen that. So you're suggesting I go Air vs Water? You really think that air cooler will be better than the water one I posted? Thanks for all the info!

Stepping down to that air cooler allows you to get the better mobo and provides similar performance to the hydro. The new hydros have really good performance on the other hand.

Ok Ill take your advice. Are there any new programs I should be using to OC and monitor temps? I have been out of it for a while sorry. I don't do any major overclocking, only simple stuff just to give it a bit more performance. I don't like heat and noise.
Well the new UEFI BIOS' are really nice about overclocking. Software-wise stick with coretemp or hwmonitor.
