Microsoft is also biased to Intel, they din't made 64bit Windows ultil Intel get it in 2006-2007 from AMD x86-64bit implementation that was much better than Itaniums.

True he was a fanboy but they would still be on IBM's powerpc arch which however better and stronger than Intel's offerings costs a ton and is supported by only linux and mac os x while people want to aslo use windows.

Too bad IBM is not anymore in desktop race...

Yea... Hopefully Steamroller will have Sandy Bridge IPC and outperform i7 4770k if all rumors, informations and leaks are true. Then maybe Apple will support AMD, atleast FX 8550.

Actually, Apple briefly considered AMD's APUs, before rejecting them because Global Foundries couldn't produce them fast enough.

Agreed. Temash is far better than Atom...

You can compare Atom with Temash even thought Temash is a league above silly Atoms.

AMD couldn’t even get early working samples of Llano to Apple on time, one former employee says. Several former AMD employees disagree on just how close AMD came.

“We had it,” one says. “But the yields didn’t come in.”

Ironically, AMD would later end up hurting itself with an oversupply of Llano APUs...

One does not drive their company with successive record growth quarters for the better part of the last 5-6 years by being a 'fanboy'.

Back in the day Intel and AMD where still head to head with the demand for Windows dual boot on a mac and saving money on IBM they went with Intel.
Now why was that again not that it makes much difference now.

Itanium's aren't worse (they're still supported today), the problem is that they didn't have backwards compatibility due to the different arch (IA-64).

As I understood, when Apple first switched to Intel with the macbook (early 2006), the core duo processors from Intel were better than the AMD solutions for laptops, and then core 2 duo came along, therefore Apple stuck with Intel.
