The average Overclock.net/Anandtech/Tomshardware/etc... member probably RMA's 3-5 mice on average before they find one they want to keep.

So with that information in mind, just do the math - When you buy a mouse online, chances are its been used by somebody else before being RMA'd for some slight problem.

Seems its hard to manufacture mice without slight problems.

Yeah.. I wonder how hard it is to fix issues for yourself such as a bad left mouse button or a scroll wheel that takes too much force to turn?

I have no idea. I dont like the idea of opening the shell of a brand new mouse and tinkering with it...

For me this is a mental thing. If I feel like the mouse I recieved isn't 100% it becomes very distracting for me, and ultimately it makes me not want to use my computer. thats why im trying really hard to get a mouse without defects even if they are minor, I feel like for a $60 mouse there should be zero defects. No cosmetic flaws and all buttons should be seated properly and click properly.

And im pretty sure im going to have to pay shipping to RMA the mouse back to 3cworld so I am already going to end up having to pay more money for a working EC2 than I should have/than other people have too. I just find this whole process really upsetting.

Sorry for the rant.

Amazon defines new as being unused, and unopened. Are you saying these criteria aren't being respected?

I think that's exactly what he's saying.

So, should I not order from this particular seller? Is Zowie to blame? Is OP psychotic? Questions, questions...

What is psycotic about it? I received a POS restock mouse with a dodgy scroll wheel and a mouse1 that sounds like it bottoms out when you press, not to mention the obvious signs of use on the bottom of the mouse. No gaming enthusiast would have been happy with it. And now they are threatening me with a 15% restock fee if they "dont find anything wrong with it."

Order at your own peril.

I had this happen with a few mice from amazon. they refunded me part of my money, i think it was 20% if I kept it. I took pictures and all. Best buy is notorious for doing this. I even brought it to their attention with the g100s and g400s. They says "no, that's how it's packaged"...unfortunately for them the rest of their stock had different stickers and different sizes and didn't looked like it was ripped into. lol.
Good luck and keep us posted about 3cworld. From what I hear they are a good and reputable retailer I am actually a little surprised. Good luck.

Even on some new mice the feet have visible marks (especially if the feet are large) due to the way the sheet from which the feet are cut is moved on the cutting machine and so on.

Having several visible scratches on the feet is ok. I think Zowie mice have a transparent piece stuck onto the bottom of the mouse and come with a second pair of feet in the box. If you have doubts, compare the two sets of feet. They should look roughly the same.
