Unless you didn't already get it (tongue.gif), yes the 4770K is better for gaming.

This list is highly dependent on the game. Many games are highly dependent on single-threaded performance in which case the 4770K and 4670K would lead the pack.

However, nearly every game is going to be different and in the majority of cases, even the 8350 compared to the 4770K will barely differ. The gap definitely starts to show when using multiple GPU's, but it's still not that big of a difference in many games. Honestly, in most cases your performance would be much better if you used the cash you save on buying an 8350 setup towards a better GPU.

The 4770K is still the more powerful CPU no matter how much you utilize all those 8 cores of the FX.

This is true. On the Anandtech comparison, the AMD chip wins in two benchmarks. The Intel chip wins in the other 31 benchmarks. The percent difference of victory by the 4770K ranges from 2.42% up to 52.82% with the average at 29.62%. However, none of these benchmarks are games... so take that with a big grain of salt.

In gaming, this is generally true. The big exception to this that comes to mind is Crysis 3, but most games agree with your statement.

I've been messing around with it on my system here:

There were accurate leaks early on, but in the case of Bulldozer everyone claimed they were fake because AMD had been working on the architecture for so long and they were bringing back the FX name. In Intel's case, they didn't really mention much about Haswell before release other than it was designed to improve power usage for mobile applications. The hype-machine was the users, for the most part.

In summary, the final decision is up to the OP. Haswell performs better in most applications but for gaming uses, more often than not the difference would be very small. Is the extra money for Haswell worth it? Up to the OP...

i found this on another thread which the information posted here is from a senior moderator so you might get a better idea.

Ty also yeah her name is and will be Emily Faye Cooper we already got almost everything setup and ready trust me i had no idea the amount of stuff that was required ( first child of my own ) ( i have helped raise my fiances daughter for past 4 almost 5 yrs she is 11 by the way ) it was mind boggling and also a wallet drainer which is also why i havent had a whole lot of time to do my research and such or even much hardware testing.

By the way i can legaly now say i happen to have a fully setup I7 4770k rig here for testing have had for past week and truth is it doesnt perform much over previous gen at all to be honest i truly cant tell difference from the I7 3770k rig i had gotten rid of a month or so ago im serious like 2-8 fps ( this is within margin of error in testing ) at max with 2x gtx 670's so for OP to jump to haswell I5 he might be better looking at the I7 3770k or even the AMD FX 8350 any of them will perform exceptionally well and get him or her thru for a few years around 2-4yrs with a good GPU.

I also want to point out my main issue that i was trying to point out in past in this thread was simply the AMD FX 8350 is a very viable budget gaming rig that will perform on average just as good as a I5 3570k rig for general gaming or simply very close so close that either way is almost equal the OP flat out stated he was on a tight budget and and would not be running top tier GPU so a high end Intel plane quad would not be a perfect match the I5 3570k and FX 8350 trade blows back and forth and perform nearly the same in some situations one or the other will perform slightly better or nearly identical

If ivy bridge drops in price I'll get it. Its probably not going to be a haswell. Probably either ivy or 8350 O might go 8350 because I might get into graphical design. As I'm looking into being a architect.
