You still have over $550 (after $20 rebate) for the rest of you components. like a GTX 680 or HD 7970.
You could even pick up two HD 7870XT. I rather spend my money on a graphic card.

Both next generation game counsels are AMD eight core based. Video game programmers will
adjust to developing for that architecture. Game engines will be written with it in mind. And they
will no longer be compiled with Intel C++ compiler.

exactly what i was trying to say / explain lol i still recomend the FX 8350 over 8320 for quaranteed overclocking headroom not all 8320's make it to 4.8ghz and such but nearly all 8350's do or higher this is due to higher binning of the 8350's.

Gaming performance wise the overall edge will go to the intel options.

There are countless GPU limited benchmarks out there where AMD and intel chips will be performing similarly and we could use 1000 posts to quote them but the sad reality is that there are also tons and tons of situations where single thread performance is important. Games are just built inherently in a way that you can't make everything parallel. You can't in practice get rid of the need for strong single threaded performance. Even when your game will offload tons and tons of tasks to other cores it will still require good performance from individual threads.

So yes, in GPU limited scenarios AMD CPUs will match intel ones. However there are tons of games that aren't so GPU limited. Games that do require that strong single thread performance. When you take a look at all the games available, the overall solution is pretty obvious. Go for the intel option if you can when your primary goal is gaming.

The current FX procs are good budget workstation chips but they don't shine in gaming at all.

Alright so I guess I'll go Intel the majority of you guys say go for it. I just worry about when the new consoles come out and games start to use more cores, if they do

You just don't seem to get it do you? There are already games now that use 8 cores and amd sucks in them. Why do you think they'll magically start beating intel?

yes there are a few games out that utilize more than 4 cores but those said games are still Intel optimized for single threaded performance (Intel compiler / CPU dispatcher designed and used without the modification to utilize non genuine Intel cpu's abilities aka cripples anything but genuine Intel cpu's ) the next gen consoles will force the market to fix the Intel compiler issue and move more towards multithreaded performance that is just facts otherwise the xbox 360 / ps3 would perform better ingames than the next gen consoles because the xbox was 3 cores with higher clocks so was the PS3 next gen consoles are AMD jaquar 8cores with lowwer clocks around 1/2 or less so the market game development wise will be forced to prioritize around multithreaded utilization this is just facts.

other wise next gen consoles will be a step backwards ( i truly dont see microsoft or sony doing this ) and actually be a move in reverse for next gen games period since games are first designed for consoles ( next gen is x86 PC style CPU with PC style graphics units in form of DX11 DX11.1 APU in range of ATI HD 7760-7870 ) then ported over to PC with the consoles using the same x86 archetecture and graphics as PC the porting over will not be much of a difference coding / programming wise so the Intel compiler issue will have to be adressed and multithreaded utilization applied.

Shouldn't be calling anyone or their system pathetic nor make ungrounded predictions

Point-blank. Sandy/Ivy Bridge and Haswell are superior to Piledriver. I go by reviews from reputables sources not Youtube.

well i will put it this way i have family involved with alot of companies like EA / Blizzard / Infinity Ward and many more when they say something is mind boggling or give hints when they have been doing this for 15-20yrs i tend to listen next gen consoles are a gamechanger this is no doubt in my eyes or anyone elses at these companies they just cant legaly talk or mention these things i just happen to be lucky to get some information ahead of time.

how do you think i get so many new released games free of charge and get in on betas and such before most info is even released without even signing up for them i get advised ahead of time and also get early access to alot of stuff because of this and this gives me alot of inside info also about things to come remember game dev's are in loop before most others even get a sniff of new hardware or what that hardware is capable of.

i can say i am not biased i just sold my old Intel I7 920 a month or so ago i got tired of the smell it had over a previous issue i had ( the gtx 570 portable bomb issue lol ) i had 2x gtx 570's in it in sli with cpu at 4.2ghz and well one day was playing my crysis 2 then all of a sudden sounded like a 38 snub nose went off beside me turns out i had the gtx 570 bad batch set of cards ( zotac AMP ) first one went i rma'd it and not 2 weeks after the second one the one i had not replaced did same thing trust me you cant get rid of that smell i tried everything but dangling car air fresheners from my forehead once i got both my rma's in i decided to put it back together and well it stunk to high heaven was so bad made me queasy and gave me migranes that damn burnt elctronics smell is horrible so i sold it to a friend for $500 just to get rid of the smell the motherboard everything reaked of it lol.
