Maximus IV GENE-Z/GEN3 doesn't let me overclock my 2600k

Hello, I've had this motherboard and this 2600k for quite some time and since I'm gonna have to transcode lots of videos in the next days, I thought it would be a good time to overclock my CPU.
Right?
Well I tried 5 different guides and still, I can't get this thing to change the multiplier over 34 (except for the turbo multiplier). How do I change it? Is it locked? Is it a bug in that dumb UEFI bios this motherboard has?

I am very new to overclocking Intel chips so don't insult me if I'm asking a dumb question.

Thanks

I've had similar problems with my z77 v-pro, do you have a xmp profile enabled for your ram? that can "lock" your your cpu and prevent you from overclocking it, or if you updated your motherboard bios at any time, that can also "lock" your cpu at the speed its set at. I've heard that a simple clear c-mos can fix the problem.

Thanks for your answer.
I had to disable the XMP profile because it would load the wrong settings for the memory, making my computer unstable.
The bios is the latest version, and i already tried clearing the cmos.

how did you fix your problem?

The problem i had was that xmp was enabled, so i dont know anything else that might solve your problem, actually the only other thing i can think of is are you using ai suite to oc your cpu? that can also cause issues. Besides that though, I'm stumped frown.gif
