Asus TurboV Evo Extreme Overclock SAFE?

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I had been reading through these forums a lot lately - trying to learn as much as I can regarding overclocking my CPU - Core PC Rig (see signature). Before I start to manually overclock my CPU I decided to test out the auto overclocking utility that came with my Asus motherboard - Asus TurboV Evo.

I decided to use the "Extreme" auto overclocking option - see below:

And the outcome of that option was the following :

The utility did not touch my multiplier at all?

I started prime 95 - Blend test - left it for a few hours... then captured the following:

I am wondering if it will be worth the time manually overclocking (would I see a big increase in performance) ? The above seem pretty good to me? though I do not know much tongue.gif

Also, is it safe to run the PC on these settings 24/7? rolleyes.gif

I forgot to mention, the whole purpose for overclocking is to gain some FPS in Farcry / BlackOps2 / SC2...

I have noticed a +-25FPS increase on certain maps in Black Ops 2 Multiplayer drool.gif

Your input will be highly appreciated!

Many Thanks,
JP

Overclocking is definitely worth it, but since you are already at 4.5Ghz, manual tuning is not required. Why mess with something thats not broke wink.gif

Your CPUZ voltage of 1.4V is very safe for 24/7 OC, right now I'm running at 4.4Ghz with 1.46V on my 6100 and its all good.

Just make sure your CPU core temperature stays below 65C. Placing a fan on the back of your motherboard (behind the CPU) will help you drop your CPU temps by at least 3C.

I've never used auto tune before,,,that looks pretty good for a software overclock,,,,you probably have a good chip,

if you wanted you could try bumping up the multipier a notch,,if auto tune will let you

you have good voltages and great temps,,,

I,m not 100% sure about this but I always thought that higher multipliers were better for higher FPS,,than overclocking the fsb
