Can someone help me understand GDDR5 Memory as System memory on the PS4????

So obviously DDR5 doesn't exist and GDDR5 is for graphics cards so how in the world are they using GDDR5 as system memory? I looked it up but couldn't find anything that made much sense. What I understand is that GDDR5 can be modified for the console to be used as system RAM and shared with the Graphics part of the APU???? (Not sure if that is correct) tongue.gif

GDDR5 is obviously faster than DDR3 but do you think that the PS4 will have a lower clock speed and higher latency with that Memory? If they do do you think that DDR3 above 1600mhz could outperform it? I'm not worried that the PS4 can out perform a PC laughingsmiley.gif I'm just curious into how their system is supposed to work.

Please correct me on anything EVERYTHING that I just said that is incorrect laughingsmiley.gif

They're using an AMD APU setup so the CPU and GPU draw from unified memory (GDDR5 here). Theoretically unified memory with enough bandwidth is superior to the basic setup. I haven't got my hands on any APU's yet but they look promising.
