I have a q6600 i.e quad core @2.4 Ghz

Simple question

Will overclocking it to 3.0 Ghz give me more FPS ???
IF Yes How much ???( aproxx )

With the following GPU
planning to buy Gts 450

For some people who are planing to give advise !
Go for i3,i5,i7
I cant buy a new Cpu ?

Hello the cpu wouldnt really impact on your FPS as most the load would be done by your GPU so be more so on the quality of that which would determine your FPS

But it also depends on how the game runs you may see FPS drop if it uses alot CPU over GPU

Greetings Brother, I I Have The Same cpu Q6600 RUNING STABLE @ 3.1Ghz
I Have Noticed HUGE diference from stock Clocks ( 2.40Ghz)
Its a Great Beast CPU for gaming and @ 3.0Ghz U Should Be more satisfied with general Loadings and performance!
also u need a good GPU To bring things to Balance!
Have Fun With Q6600 <3

Thanks for the time buddies

@ KAMA YEAH can you please show me the difference with and without overclock ????( a Video if possible)

I updated from e5700 to q6600 ... games Fps droped by 2-3 Fps that was becasue of the low clockrate for sure........
However Files extract 100x faster than before and things open a bit quick....

I am planing to overclock to 3.0 Ghz too but will have to buy a cooler too for that

and please someone tell me the max good temperature range (that wont decrease processors life)

Cpu : ?
Core0 ?
core1 ?
core2 ?
core3 ?

'more fps'
Not really specific.....

the Q6600 should only struggle in highly CPU intensive games such as bf3 Multiplayer.
But saying that, your GPU will suffer also.

What games are you playing?

I would say that it probably wouldn't give you a noticeable increase in fps.

I am playing Black ops 2
for now

Overclock your GPU for more performance on that title.
the game is less CPU intensive than BF3 and others

Hmmm I Dont Have enough time for now to make some video for you but i can tell you some things that made difference for me..
1) Faster Loading On Games that CPU usage is More demand
2) faster performance & reaction Generaly on windows tasks
3)Increased Fps for me Although i have overclocked my 6790 to 950/4500
Overclocking at 3.00ghz Doesnt really need a new cooler... if u planning above 3.2 u should get a better:)
Im At 3.10 Stable with stock cooler and extra 2 fans ( Check My Rig In My Signature Below)
As Far as i know Our Quads should be under MAX65 C to be safe... I have Iddle Temps around 38-39 C and After Full Load ( rendering) i hit 60-61 Max
I Could Be Go Further with my Q6600 But My Mobo Limits my overclock:// I Have this overclock for 2 years now and my Quad is 5 years old and im Extremely satisfied with the results:)
Hope I Helped:)
