G1.Sniper 2 help?

Thread Starter
Hi there guys,

I have a Gigabyte G1.Sniper 2 motherboard and I'm having some issues with it.

It's currently loaded with the Award F5 bios provided from Gigabyte's site. I have an i7-3770k loaded in it, and when I go into the bios to change options for the multiplier I'm locked between 35-39x multiplier. How do I fix this?

Other issues:
LONG boot/post, it will post to Gigabytes Post screen and locate the 3 SSD's in my computer (no HDD's installed) and then move to an AHCI post and search for them again. Both posts take about 15 seconds, useless is it not?

F5 is the newest bios for the board released on Gigabyte's website, however I have seen in some other threads a UEFI bios available for the board (beta) but Gigabyte wont acknowledge that it exists. Does anyone have any word on it? (ill post the other sites thread if requested, not sure if I can now)

The board is currently bricked as @bios messed up and bricked the CMOS/Dual Bios chips, but I would like to load up my new one (coming in from RMA) as quickly as possible...

Any tips?

You need UEFI BIOS to OC Ivy Bridge.

http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/28441-gigabyte-latest-beta-bios.html

How did you manage to brick both main and backup BIOS?

That sir, is a very good question.

@bios downloaded and updated the bios and then BOOM wont turn on. Cant explain it otherwise.

I realize now not to use @bios, but the weird thing is it said I had F4 bios when I knew I had F5. But now the computer just simply wont boot.

Did you ever try to kick in BIOS restoring feature? I highly doubt @BIOS flashed both of them at the same time. On old GB boards, or even new ones without BIOS switch, you had to do this procedure.

I will definitely give this another try, however I don't know which bios is in my backup. If its F3 or earlier i'm screwed with my Ivy Bridge processor...

When in the bios recovery, can I alter the Bios's at all?

Thank you for your help!

I don't think you can make it to flash a different version instead of backup.

It's either dead, or needs Sandy Bridge to perform.

When did you buy this board anyway? If after Ivy Bridge release, you should have known that GB's Z68 does not have a good rep.

In any case you should proceed with your RMA...

I bought this board when I was using a 2500k, I since switched to a 3770k and upgraded to F5 bios. It was OKAY, but something like this is making me think of grabbing a Z77 board to work with it...

yea ivy will OC better on Z77 as well. You can RMA the board and ask them to put the new BIOS on it for you tho.
