I hope either Intel or AMD will start selling a special edition of their CPU's without the IHS...

So they only use the very center of the wafer for each chip? I thought the wafer was alot of chips that cut up, it's one chip per wafer?

No, just that the chips that are nearer to the edge are worse in quality terms, for example, the chips of the centre could be some Athlon x3 and the edge ones some Athlon x2, they are the same just that one has a core locked becouse may be fautly
