AX 860 and sli help!

I've just ordered 2x gtx 780's, and i was wondering if i could use the two 1x 8-pin to 2x 6+2-pin adapter that comes with the ax 860? i tried using this cable with a gtx 680, but it that didn't work(no image on screen).
So with the 780's i would like to use one of the cables for the 6-pin connectors on the cards and one on the 8-pin connectors.

Yep, it'll work fine.

Strange it didn't work on your 680.thinking.gif

Of course I'm sure.

Are you asking can you use the 6+2pin pci-E cable as a 6pin only to the one 6 pin connection of the GTX 780?

Yes.

well, no.. i'm asking if i can use 1 cable to power a 780. the gtx 780 needs 1x 6-pin and 1x 8-pin, and i want to use the cable that came with the psu(ax 860). it's 1x 8-pin which goes into the psu and at the other end, which goes into the graphics card, there is 2x 6+2 pin. can i use the splitter?

I see, yes you can.

That's what the cable is for. Could only put some many ports on the psu and to help with cable management.

100% sure. I have had that psu before and also have the AX650 which has the same kind of cabling.

but why wouldn't it work with the 680? once i switched to the normal non-splitter cables it worked like a charm...
could i have a bad cable?

Maybe, maybe connection wasn't secure enough.

If it's a bad cable, then call up Corsair and they'll send you a new one.

They have great customer service.smile.gif
