I'm pretty sure he's restricted to one CPU purchase.

Otherwise yeah.. buy both, flip both, then wait until he actually needs an upgrade to spend the money.

if I could do that I would have already placed the order. I can pick 1, thats it. Fiscally I should just flip a 3930k so I am closer to this bike but I am sure that is against the intel rules rolleyes.gif hardware wise I should just grab the 3770k and upgrade that quick and easy. Then for just amazing bragging rights I can't beat a 3930k biggrin.gif this is going to be tough, guess I'll just have to see what mobos I can pick up for the 2011 and their prices... Oh who the hell am I kidding I already know I will need one of the classified EATX, cuz if I am going 2011 I am going all out. damn me and my go big or go home mentality.

You're not buying an intel engineering sample. You're buying a retail CPU that's no different then any other retail CPU. And unless they make you sign something that says it's for personal use only, you can do whatever you want with it. (And even if they did make you agree to something like that, there's no way they're going to be able to figure out that you sold it, nor would they be interested in enforcing it).

Intel's probably just trying to dump a bunch of inventory before the new line comes out.

part of the reason we get the deal is because we promise not to sell/trade/release the chip from our possession for like a year or 2. something weird like that, just the standard clauses for employees of any business. not that they could track it, and they are dumping them to make room for the new haswell/ivy-e chips. still one hell of a deal though.

I would not buy an LGA 2011 now. But, I have one. Buy them both, sub $200! I want one. Really. I can trade you a Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 2011 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor smile.gif And other stuff.

Serious! PM me.

Oh. Never mind. smile.gif

I wonder if I can get it. I am registered...

Quick update. I noticed in the finer print it says "1 deal per person" and these are considered 2 seperate deals. Going to try and buy both tomorrow will update

Is there anything that states that explicitly?

Either way, I doubt it would be enforceable in court even if they wanted to.

Though I doubt I will be upgrading again for a while if I do this haha

Assuming you mean Electrical Engineering / Comp Eng, I'm in the same program. But specializing in power systems, and you guaranteed will not notice the difference.
Using Multisim and Matlab, that 3750k is overkill already, if you're dying on spending money, get Far Cry 3. (Game is nuts, just bought it)

We use dual core Xeons (I think, I don't really know too much about Intel nomenclature) at school and they struggle, but the Phenom II 955 I just upgraded from, murdered any EE work I had.

So in short, I'd say you'd be wasting your money, but it might be cool to build a system, throw it on kijiji and pocket the profit thumb.gif

I never sell old systems, I always find a way to repurpose them. if anything I will be grabbing this 3770k and then just give my little bro my old 3570k since he is running a phenom now and is dying for an upgrade that he can't afford just yet. Thanks for the headsup tho, I am in Electrical Engineering haven't picked anything to specialize on yet tho, probably micro controllers and the likes. Always wanted to be able to build the hardware I use biggrin.gif Using Matlab currently, don't know what else we will be using though but Figured an i5 that can break 5.0ghz would be enough tho haha

edit- Just bought the 3770k, figured it was the smartest move. I wanted to do the full upgrade but I just couldn't pull the trigger. Can only order 1 cpu too, so grabbing a 2nd 3930k to throw around OCN is out of the question. May still be able to snag a coworkers deal though so I wont count it out yet. ****ty part is 48 hours processing time, and up to 6 weeks shipping. Even in the US48 thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif
