Haven't had the issue with Race Room, albiet I only played a few hours and stopped. Moved to F1 and Dirt.

In response to Grid 2, I also think it's too arcadey. I don't feel the same way for Dirt (at least the earlier ones). I really miss Forza after I went console-free....frown.gif

Shift 2 is just terrible, imho. All NFS games, except for Underground and Most Wanted, feel boring. I think they milked the "Tuner" market too much, and I ironically miss the customization aspect in current games lol. (which is why I like forza, too bad no neon lol)

So far, Forza and F1 have felt the most realistic, I haven't tried iRacing or Asseto Corsa yet.

I still say modded GTR2 with hundreds of tracks and hundreds of cars, night/rain racing, 100+ race grid, probably the best AI in any racing game ever, more mods than you will know what to do with...you can mod virtually everything in this game with ease.

Also, Need for Speed Shift 1 and 2 are not so bad either...once heavily modded. Project CARS is using the Shift 2 engine and physics as a base, no? I know it's far from it now, but modders have also used these games as a base for something better than it once was...still not a perfect racer, by any means, but still the closest thing to Forza and Gran Turismo we have on PC at the moment...short of emulating Gran Turismo 4 with PCSX2. I can't get into these pay to play kind of racers either...so no comment there. I've played Race Room and SimRaceWay, and didn't want to buy into more cars or tracks, so had a pretty limited experience, but enough to know I wouldn't spend any money on them, even though Race Room is a SimBin product.

RaceRoom physics are decent, but I also didn't want to "pay to play". If it allowed me to earn points faster for unlocks, then I might be more inclined to continue.

I haven't tried GTR2 either.

I like the progression/career gameplay aspect, like starting out with a ****box and moving your way up. Forza did it better than GT imo, GT ****boxes were literally "****boxes", unlike Forza where the car is slow, but decent. I don't wanna drive a 40hp Daihatsu!

Grid 2 is not a sim, but I think a lot of people would find it fun if they pushed past the first hour or so of gaming. I had it for a while and hated it. Once i started progresing (which happens quickly after the inital hard push) it is a lot more fun with much better tracks and cars.

F1 2013 is really good. 2013 is less of an annual update with the same stuff, you get the classic DLC and they've really tuned the physics well. But if you don't like F1 then there's not much there for you at all, obviously. I love rally, but there hasn't been a decent rally game since Richard Burns Rally. Lots of people still play it but the massive amount of mods required and incompatabilities these days when you try to play it on a modern system just sucks the fun out of it entirely. Alas.

Assetto Corsa looks fantastic though.

Same. Super bummed on that one. I gave it the good ole fashioned Iranian try and got some hours out of it. Can't say I enjoyed any of it...

That was the last racer I enjoyed. Do you have any mod recommendations? I think I'm going to reinstall that while I wait for pcars or ac.

Dirt 3 all the way. I spent 5 minutes in SHIFT and then decided I absolutely hated it so much I could never even give it a serious try.

If you can try a demo of Dirt 1 or 2, the rally physics aren't bad.

Just do the normal rally and rallycross (also trailblazer in 2), the truck and buggy races are ****.

try it with helmet mode too.
