You should be very pleased with a Asus HD7950 DC2 V2, it has a great cooler and very solid PCB quality.
Your is not TOP version so it will be clocked at 800/1250MHz out of the box, but it/s 100% identical to TOP model so you can flash TOP BIOS to get 900/1250MHz speed.

Also it's voltage unlocked, so you can adjust Core and Memory voltage to get maximum overclock ot of it.
It uses HD7970 DC2 cooler and Hynix memory chips which are the best for overclock.

Here's a review of that card, they managed 1200MHz on the core easily and cooler kept temperatures under control.

My friend has V2 and he's very pleased, he uses it for mining.

Just make sure that you get V2 [ASUS HD7950-DC2-3GD5-V2]. if it doesnt have V2 in SKU then return it.

Oh thanks for the very fast response. You make me feel much more comfortable with my purchase thanks. I'm doing my first build soon and will share everything here. Although for the price i paid i feel that i could've done better. Just wondering... are there better cards for the price range that i have? Like i said before, i may be able to return it. Feels like christmas time and i am 10 years old again. Very excited.

After 12 minutes Furmark burnin with Post-FX and Extreme burn in core temp is stabilized at 70C. So there.

Hey, what is your power draw [according to FurMark (GPUZ)] with that? Because if I ran .99v I'd probably hit 100C on VRMs and then I have it set to throttle there tongue.gif

I think I used .92v and that gave me 108W.

What were your VRM temps when your core was at around 80C? Also, try running this with your fan on auto. Low speed 1600 rpm is going to make everything look like garbage except the DC2 with its massive fans.

I dont think the Asus 7950 DC2 is that great though. I think we are talking a 1-5*C temp difference over dual slot 2x90mm models though, you still aren't going to be able to push 1.25v+ on high overclocks. If only someone would bother being a contributing member and actually help us out here...

I set 0.99V in Trixx and effectively got around 0.92V after vdroop. Power draw was similar to yours at around 110W.

So DC2 performs 8C better than VaporX cooler at those settings (62C vs 70C).

Very likely.
DC2 fans have a higher CFM rating, as they are thicker.
Vapor-X would need to run at higher rpm to match this airflow. At 1600rpm they are barely moving any air at all (and I assume are also quieter than DC2 at same rpm).

Vapor-X radiator with DC2 fans would be a match out of heaven.

@ 1600 rpm (24% fan speed) I honestly can't tell if the card is working or not because they are DEAD SILENT.

@ 1850 rpm (30%) I can bearly hear fans working on DC2, @ 2200 rpm (40%) fan is audible but not LOUD.

When DC2 fans speed up higher than 45% then they get LOUD but also temps drop very fast.

Also 80% is the highest fan speed on DC2 cards as when you push fan past 80% they're still running at maximum 3400 rpm.

So 40% set in Afterburner is actually 50% in real rpm on DC2 cooler, but stil I would not call it LOUD, at 100% speed 3400 rpm it's VERY LOUD!!! wink.gif

Little nuances like vdroop are not going to be reported accurately by software. Software gives you a ballpark of your voltage, but doesn't give you the actual voltage, nor does it accurately follow when the voltage goes up and down (voltage never sits at JUST X, ie .99v, that means it's runnins 1.04v for a nanosecond, then .97v, then 1.02121v, then .927v, etc...).

Use a multimeter to follow something like vdroop. I've seen with many high end components that software will report voltage dropping but in reality the voltage is actually rising.

DC2 fans are also going to be quieter and have higher CFM/dBa. I'd like to know of the absolute cooling performance since most GPGPU workers will run their fans at 100% fan speed to save energy (as going from 70 to 60C saves you about 20-50w on a 7950, while a fan consumes 1-2w maxed).
