Belial's Comprehensive Guide to 7950s! - Page 9

I don't get all the snarky comments on here really why don't you guys just correct him instead of attacking him?

I can't be the only one who thinks the picture of the 7950GX2 was just a joke of some sort, calm down. tongue.gif

They tried constructive criticism and he either ignores it or lashes out at them for trying to help him improve it.

OP: Its a good guide and is pretty informative, but the simple act of changing this from a one stop shop guide to more of a niche needs guide would help immensley.
And please change the picture. redface.gif
It doesnt matter if its a joke or an honest mistake, its bad procedure to write a guide as an expert and have the wrong cards at the top.

Theres a handful of stuff I see that needs corrected, but its pretty much all already been mentioned so ill only touch on the big 2.
1. Incorrect information about which memory chips are on which PCBs/Cards
2. Your insistence that your evaluation of the cards is accurate without you really giving us full metrics and tests.
Your whole reason for this thread is that testing methodology is flawed and you cant find reliable info.
You cant then claim that X is the best or Y is preferable based on that same flawed testing and lack of info.

Just remember to take a step back when someone posts something and think "Are they being a jerk, or are they trying to offer me some advice."
It will help your blood pressure AND will allow this thread to be as awesome as you want it to be. thumb.gif

Didn't read the thread, but why does this "guide" have pictures of a Nvidia 7950GX2 released what 6-7 years ago, when it's about the current AMD HD7950?

There's no pleasing the op. I never said the iceq turbo was "awesome" just that his info was wrong. It may be a wrong card for folding and whatever else he does but it's a great gaming card. Plus I haven't read to many bad reviews about about it, or else I woul not have bought it.

ive just got the msi r7950 3gd5/oc be g and my thoughts of it are as follows

what I like about the card
its a reference 7950 pcb with Hynix ram and voltage control for both memory and core comes with loads of accessories and free games and 3d mark advanced.

what I don't like.
I took of the cooler shroud on the card to find no vrm cooling whatsoever. while im using it now the temps are 33-34 on the core and vrms I haven't put it under load yet and I wont until I sort the vrm solution.
I have the card in the 3rd pcie slot of my board and with the hdd bay gone the front fan is blowing straight at the back of the card.
my only other complaint is that the voltage says its 1250 in msi for the core, im sure that's way to high but I think its set to the boost bios as the oc is 830core and the boost is 840 and gpu-z is showing 840.

so im loving the card apart from its faults but I will fix them no problem

Wait, the OP used a picture of nVidia 7950GX2's and then states that is what AMD HD7950's used to look like? I don't think he's joking, I think he's genuinely confused...

I'm tired of people confusing the 7950 is an awesome chip with the IceQ Turbo is an awesome card.

The HD 7950 is not a chip, its the card, with Tahiti Pro chip.
