Headphones for Soundblaster Z

Thread Starter
I just picked up a SoundBlaster Z last week and installed in my machine...
I am looking at maybe purchasing a new headset, looking at the Sennheiser PC 360.

My question/concern being is:
If I plug in this Sennheiser PC 360 3.5 mm headset to my Z, will I still get surround sound that is almost identical to what i currently get through an Optical Headset I am currently using (Turtle Beach X41)?

I play mainly FPS games(BF3 mainly), and my concern is that I don't want to give up the awesome virtual surround sound I get with Dolby Digital Live, as I rely on it heavily to find enemies/vehicles in game...

I guess if I can't get the same audio positioning I currently get through optical... I can always pick up an Astro Mixamp and plug the 3.5mm headset to the mixamp...

I did notice a huge difference with the Z vs Onboard audio, but like I said, I'd like to upgrade headphones, but don't want to miss out on Dolby Digital Live, does anybody have experience with SBX Surround? Maybe it's really good through stereo headphones???
Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it should be identical if not better. The PC360 itself is capable of positional cues to a great degree. You may not even need SBX or Dolby to find enemies with the 360, back in my CS days I had it plugged into an X-Fi in stereo mode and got called a hacker once. biggrin.gif

I have not tried the Z, but SBX should be equal to Dolby at least, so you shouldn't be worried too much.

There's an improved version of both, the PC350/360 you may want to look at them.
