You don't need it. But it's nice to have it quieter, better cooling and put less stress on everything.

I always install third party coolers on ALL of my customers' PCs.

They tend to prefer the more expensive but quieter and cooler result.

It will increase longevity theoretically because it is less ware on the system. And less db. Also I don't know its effects on ambient temps but it might lower them a bit not sure.

i dont see why not. can always get a 212EVO and replace the fans with something quieter and enjoy better quieter temps. assuming your stock fan isnt loud. honestly if you are not OC'ing you dont need a better cooler. but its always nice to have nice things thumb.gif

I'd go for a CM Hyper 212 like others have suggested...i use it with two Blademasters on and its silent even with my toasty bulldozer pulling 4.0Ghz.

I voted yes. For the same reasons mentioned above. When you can get a 212 Evo for cheap, it's not a bad investment to cut down the noise and potentially less stress on the CPU. thumb.gif

While Hyper 212 is not a bad cooler I think the Thermalright True Spirit 120 is better and cheaper here.
TS120 = 64c; H212evo 69c (i7 920@3.3GHz)
http://rigmods.com/wp/blog/thermalri...-120-review-2/

TS120 = £24.98; H212evo = £26.99

This has been discussed hundreds, if not thousands of times in the past. You can do what you want to make you feel better, but the plain and simple fact is that the Intel and AMD stock cooling fan solutions are 100% satisfactory at stock clocks for ALL purposes. You can crank the IBT or prime95 24x7 with an Intel stock cooler and be fine.

Stock cooler will definitely cool just fine but it may make more noise than user wants to hear.
