Yup, best chance is to buy secondhand and make the seller check the memory, if the memory overclocks matter to you. Gigabyte windforce seems to still have Hynix,.

Sapphire are AMD's top partner.....
I'll say Sapphire is the worst now, RMA'd 2 cards and bought 1 card and they all clocked badly as well as crashing on stock clocks

I heard that Hynix can be overclocked higher than Elpida's. I asked the seller but they said that they can't check. http://www.visionstudio.gr/prodinfo.asp?id=31704&cat=5 I mean if i get the Elpida one will it make a big difference in overclocking the memory?

(Ι had good experience with my previous sapphire 6870 in terms of oc'ing)

If they can't check then you won't know. The brand is actually written on top of the memory modules, so you have to screw the cooler off to know.
Yes Elpida doesn't stand a chance against Hynix in overclocking. But does it matter to you? If gaming then don't bother, if mining then do bother.

Yea then don't worry about the memory. Do worry about cooler noise. If you got 3 slots available in your case, go for asus 7950 dc2 v2 imho.
The new ones aren't triple slot anymore. I think.

Yes they are. Please link me proof because the only reason I haven't bought one yet is the triple slot cooler. I don't believe you but I would be so happy if you are right !

I have the Sapphire Vapor-X 7950 with boost. I love this card it truly is a beast and stays very cool, I want to say after an hour of FC3 I was only at 56-60c at 100% GPU use. My only issue with the card is... it's voltage locked! mad.gif

I've been lurking the net to find a viable solution to solve the problem, which basically comes down to finding a new vBIOS to load on the card with no voltage regulation. Either way it's still a great card, the fans do occasionally spin up and are decently loud but if you game with a headset you won't notice it. I'm actually thinking about buying another for crossfire once AMD rolls out a non beta patch for the CFX stutter fix.

Cheers!
