[toms] Microsoft: Cloud Will Quadruple Power of Xbox One - Page 20

Imagine playing a single player game and you lose connection to the device the processing power is being offloaded to and then you have to wait for another solid connection to be found in order to continue playing.
I already said this a few pages back but it will just cause European bans on the console.

Haven't got a call for telstra asking to upgrade in 2 years, they want me on ADSL2+ with 200GB a month for $10 extra, the night after i said i hated my internet.
Just had to put it out there, telstra is monitoring my internets.
That is weird indeed but it might be accidental.
I can't get ADSL2 here I'm too far from the station for it to hold an advantage over ADSL1

I got the Dodo unlimited connection for $39.99 a month and get 20Mbit/s down with my internet being pretty reliable.
Funny thing is, I still won't get anything with always online DRM...My internet is reliable but there's a tonne of points of failure between me and MS/EA/Whoever's servers.

We will probably get hackers hacking into the ps4's web came service well before then can access the kinect. Unlike Sony MS has been dealing with security for ever.

People also forget that the Xbox is more tailored to people that will never game on a PC. Most gamer's simply do not game on a PC what so ever. MS has packed the xbox one full of features, so many features for those that might want to use their console for something else can happily do so. With some of the best software ever to see the light of day on a console. Also one of the best controllers known to man

If you want a gaming only experience that really doesn't involve playing with friends then the ps4 is probably the way to go. From Stale dashboard with limited features that probably wont change much is what your getting, but for the few good exclusives and the crummy controller you have to play it on will be more then enough for you. I just hope Sony doesn't find a way to have your user data leaked again, as it's not like they were trying to take precautions before. tongue.gif

I doubt Sony is going to make that mistake again. And anyone who trusts any company, even Valve, Gearbox, etc is idiotic...No company is trustworthy nor should be considered trustworthy.

Really? Well, most people who watch console unveiling events tend to game..and not much else. They announce a tonne of fluff for those people, with only a handful of actual useful info which doesn't look all that appealing. It's clear MS is now going after the audience Nintendo got with the Wii.

You keep bringing up Sony getting hacked, what about MS getting a 33% failure rate in an industry where 3% is considered high...It took them how many revisions and years before they fixed it fully? They did a great job on the replacement of faulty consoles, but so did Sony on attempting to help those affected by PSN being hacked. (Personally, I would never put anything but a debit card into Steam, XBL, PSN, etc specifically because if it gets hacked then they can steal all $3 I keep in there to keep the account open)

The funny thing is that everyone I know with a 360 right now is going to get a PS4 based off of the current information, it has more exclusives, (Beyond Forza, Gears of War and Halo, what does the Xbox have that isn't matched elsewhere by PS?) no requirement to be online, etc. It's just the better console at this point in time..and even if the extra GPU horsepower means games don't look better, they sure as hell will run better.

I'd love to see how this power is utilized on a 10mbps internet connection with 1mbps upload bandwidth.

Launch level...

And I need not to remind you what would happen if.. you know, by sheer accident, that cloud network went down, or you know, your Internet went down.. But why should I? We live in a perfect world thumb.gif

I live in a rural area (~3000 est. population). and still get Charter cable 30 Mb/ 4 Mb. for only $60 rolleyes.gif

last time I had an outage was last year, and that was when there were extremely high winds outside.

lucky American's keeping their wiring above ground.
We can't have our lines updated without digging and opening up the sidewalk.
So much for a faster connection.

You say that.... until a hurricane, tornado, flood, etc hits.

Then, it's like... why didn't we bury our wires?!

As I see it, there are none. cloud gaming will be horrible. bandwidth issues, latency, loss of connection. What about those that still live in the boondocks with a DSL or, yes, a dial-up connection. All this always online, online only, stuff is garbage.

Dedicated servers would be easier to implement rather than console-hosted multipliers.

That would happen even on a 1Gbit/s/1Gbit/s connection...It's the latency is the problem; APUs gained a decent increase in performance by being physically closer and having much shorter traces (ie. Lower latency) to the CPU which was already pretty low, and people think that a 30ms ping connection can do the type of stuff that will make a difference? Combined with the Internet just not being reliable, most games will use it for optional but nice stuff.
