Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 owners: Has anyone swapped the top filter for something less restrictive?

Thread Starter
I'm thinking about getting the arc Midi R2 for $65 off NCIX. However, the one concern I have is the top fan filter seems to be very fine like that of an air conditioner. It looks to be attached by folding over mesh tabs similar to Carbide 300R, 400R, 500R (see http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showpost.php?p=607718&postcount=84) top panels.

Bottom filter looks nice and thin , front filters shouldn't be an issue (see http://imagescdn.tweaktown.com/content/5/4/5412_25_fractal_design_arc_midi_r2_mid_tower_chassis_review_full.jpg) , and there's no side fans.

Thoughts?

Maybe Fractal Design will come out with a side panel that has fan mounts , although it isn't that much an issue since there's a bottom fan mount.

There's a side panel for the Define R4 with a fan mount. I'm not entirely sure, but I saw a comment abou the Arc Midi R2 and the Define R4 using the same side panels. You could ping Fractal Design about that.

They sure use the same internals so I'd think they'd be able to fit eachother side panel.

To answer your question OP, I just used the top as an intake and only the back is an exhaust. Creates a good airflow thumb.gif

The only thing I dont like with that foam/filter is the noise the fan make when it's there: not an annoying sound but a big "whooooosh"
