How long would my CPU last if on load it got up to 55C? What about just 50C?

And I've seen it idle at 28C but thats right when I turn it on after its been off for a while. I don't know why. I have a lot of fans. The ones on the back panel don't seem to blow as much air as the one I have on the side panel. I can barely feel the air on the back panel ones. Maybe I need some better fans.
If you can cut out the stock grill on the case you would notice a huge difference in the flow..

CPU on a 55c load will last a long long time. just much above that and you'll start experiencing chip degradation (once you start hitting the 60's).

My room was a lot cooler than yesterday. I was hotter in my room than the rest of my house yesterday which probably affected my temps a little bit. I've got it up to 270 fsb for 2.43GHz. I ran Orthos for 2 minutes just to see how hot it was getting. CPU-Z actually read 45-46C. But I went to stop Orthos and about 2 seconds after I did, my motherboard started beaping. I set my warning temp to 50C. So I guess my CPU was really at 50C not 45C.

Okay this is weird. My friend brought his computer over so we can lan yesterday and we were playing Quake 4 for like 10 minutes and then my motherboard started beeping again (I have it set for 50C). It happened a couple of times and it even happened doing the FEAR performance test. I set it to sound at 53C and once again it started happening. I then clocked it back down to normal settings and it still starts beeping! This doesn't make sense. The day before, I had it at 2.43Ghz and at 50C warning temp. I played Call of Duty for like 30-45 min and then ran orthos for an hour and a half and the temps got up to 49C with my program and the motherboard never beeped. It actually went down to 46-47C after like 10 min of running orthos. Okay after playing some games, I tried running orthos again. I was at like 45C and I think this was when I was back down at normal settings (can't remember for sure tho). Here is the weird part. I ran orthos for like 10-15 min at the temps were never above 45-46C. Then about 5 seconds after stopping orthos which should cause the temps to go down, the motherboard starts beeping and it was set at 53C. Does that mean the temps were off by like 7C in the program I'm using? And why does it always start to beep AFTER I hit the stop button and never during? It really doesn't make sense. Even when it was at 2.43Ghz and set for 50C, it never beeped when playing Call of Duty. The temps were actually at like 42-43C. Then howcome the mobo started beeping when I was playing Unreal Tournament? The temps should be about the same when playing Call of Duty as when playing Unreal. There is no way playing Unreal raises the temps by 7C. My mobo was beeping all over the place yesterday. Maybe cause I have a tiny room and had 2 comps in at the time? My room can get pretty heated. Also, I have my bios configured to turn off at 60C so I guess it never got that high. I'm thinking about turning the warning temp to 60C and see if it starts beeping cause then I'll know somethings up. It just doesn't make sense why it was beeping so much. I mean playing a game doesn't keep the CPU usage at 100% all the time so the temps should never get as high as when running orthos. Call of Duty only keeps my CPU usage at like 50%. Anyone have some input?

I wonder if anyone will read this huge paragraph

EDIT: I don't think I wanna remove the IHS, but I'm thinking about getting another HSF.

Okay, I raised it to 2.52GHz and set the warning temp at 60C. Ran orthos for like 13 mins, the highest temp was 49.5C according to my program. I hit stop and then about 15-20 secs later the mobo starts beeping. But if it was at 60C then shouldn't it shutdown because I have it set to shutdown at 60C. So why is my mobo beeping then? It can't be at 60C. Especially since it didn't start beeping until 15-20 secs after I stopped it. The temps read like 39C when it started beeping. Doesn't make sense.

I'm thinking it might be this program that I'm using that is making my mobo beep because I set it at 2.61ghz, ran the test, stopped it and waited. The mobo didn't start beeping until I closed the program and then when I reopened it, it stopped beeping. Then when I closed it hitting the X button, it started beeping. Opened it back up and it stopped. This time I closed it with through the tray icon and the mobo didn't beep anymore. So I guess it was telling correct temps and it was just this gay program that caused the beeping. That would mean that I haven't gotten over 49.5C yet. BUT what doesn't make sense is that the mobo was beeping when I was playing some games when I didn't have the program running. So I dunno, whatever.

I think I've found my limit, 2.7GHz. I tried to get it to 2.8 but Windows wouldn't boot up. At 2.75, it booted but I ran orthos and got a ram error right away. 2.7 works tho...50% overclock, pretty nice. This is my first time OCing too btw.
