How much will my Opty 165 o/c? - Page 3

if your getting RAM errors at a certain overclock you might do better with different RAM, maybe even higher. Loosen your timings and dual Prime it to see how high it is stably. Good luck.

I guess I spoke too soon cause apparently I'm not stable at 2.7 either.. I get an error on the first core about 6 min in. I'm now trying it on 2.691ghz lol. I took the fsb down 1 So far so good but it's only like 5 min in.

EDIT: Maybe I was getting an error at 300 fsb because sometimes it would go to 301 and then my ram would be over 200mhz so I guess that could cause an error. I could change the divider but then I'd only have 150mhz

Okay at 2.69, orthos failed after 5 hours. I tuned it down to 2.68 and orthos ran for 12 hours and 18 mins without any errors so I'm stable at 2.68ghz. I'm probably gonna leave it here for now. Not bad o/c. About 49%

Judging by your overclock limits you probably have a CCBWE stepping, and those do not like high voltages at all, but it will do fine with about 1.45V at that speed.

judging by your overclock you have the wrong settings somewhere. tell me, are you changing your ram timings/voltage, your PCIe clock, your vcore, or your memory divider? you also might have CPU spread spectrum turned on.

CCBWE chips are very capable of 2.8 GHz...so thats what you should expect. 2.7 to 2.8 GHz stable.

The only thing I've changed is the FSB, HTT multiplier, and the memory divider. I didn't want to change the voltage or anything cause I already get up to 49.5C on load according to my temp program.

are you using stock cooling? 49c on stock cooling sounds right, but you need to up your vcore to like 1.35v at least to hit 2.7 GHz stable on CCBWE. also just wanting to clarify, are you using AS5 or the stock heatpad that came on the heatsink?
