Most 680/670 are able to reach the new memory clock on stock voltage via any overclocking software. And the new boost 2.0 is just software. You're shelling 400$ for the exact same hardware.

Just look at the lightning 770 valley score (48.X fps), and then go look at the valley thread on this forum; you'll notice that 670s and 680s perform the same. It's just a shameless money grab from nvidia. The only real new card in the 700 series is the 780.

I was really looking forward to «upgrade» to the 700 series, but seeing that I already own something similar to a 770 and that the 780 is 650$, i'll just wait for the next gen.

just found another N670 PE/OC for $315 shipped lightly used on another forum.
so I grabbed it because for that price I can recoup all the funds back when I upgrade again.
so now I can really wait and see what's what..

People who buy this will regret they didn't just wait for Volcanic Islands -- expected at end of this year

I think it will happen allot sooner than later if its still 28nm, but if its 20nm it will be end of 2013. AMD doesn't want to sabotage their own sales by announcing 8 series so soon. Maybe they are just getting rid of inventory.. eitherway.. we will find out soon I suppose biggrin.gif

Need more info on TSMC 20nm.

So basically the 770 is a 680 with an optimized BIOS rather than an optimized hardware just like the 7970 GHz and the vanilla non-GHz one. Correct me if I am wrong! Nvidia oh nvidia, you're doing it wrong...

This is the chart that most interested me ...

Now if I can only find some charts that show the 770/780 over the 580 w/3GB RAM at 2560x1440 resolution.

You are right. The 770 is to the 670/680 what the 7970 GHZ is to the 7970.

Average fps seems to be very volatile right now. OC the 7970 to around 1200 core and it wont be the same story. In a similar fashion, you could get even better results with a 1300+ OC on the gk104 card.

Just have a look at the single card scores from this thread : http://www.overclock.net/t/1360884/official-top-30-unigine-valley-benchmark-1-0-fill-the-form

Notice how everything seems all over the place, and how most 670 are beating the 770 lightning (which averaged 48 frames).

VideoCardz is Nvidia biased heavily, and I wouldn't trust anything they say. I rather wait for Anandtech review

If this card end up at 450$ I hope the 680 prices drop a lot so I can get a $275 4GB one at Black Friday tongue.gif
