A "Litttle" Mouse Choice Predicament

Thread Starter
Alright, I've been meaning to post a thread for some time now but after my latest adventure into the realm of mice I am running out of ideas. This thread is not about sensors, they come in second to the primary problem: I have small pinky fingers. Yeah, it's hilarious, but really the knuckle for my pinky fingers on both hands are set a good inch into my hand. If you want to get an idea of what this means, put your hand palm down on a table then look at how your pinky finger aligns with the second knuckle of your ring finger...now remove the tip of your pinky finger and imagine it aligning with the first knuckle of your ring finger. This is made even more problematic as my joint inside of my hand and that leaves me with only two joints on my pinky fingers rather than three.

Which places me in an interesting predicament with mice...nine times out of ten mice flat out hurt me. If I try to play a game for any extended period of time the mouse begins to cause extreme amounts of pain and eventually my only option is to play mouse musical chairs and try to move between them so that my finger is forced into a different uncomfortable position than the last mouse.

I've spent more money on mice in the last few years than I care to think about. It's seriously becoming some sick habit as i roll the dice on each mouse and come up failing. See below for the mice that I have tried and failed to find usable.

Mouse Graveyard:
Zowie EC2 Evo
Zowie AM-GS
Roccat Kone XTD
Feenix Nascita
Mionix Naos 5000
Razer Taipan
Steel Series Sensei MLG
Steel Series Ikari
RAT 7

I use a palm/claw hybrid depending on of my finger is getting sore or not, at times it feels like it's fractured which is absolutely horrible, and other times it's just sore which I can deal with. I've pondered the Func MS3 but I am not convinced I can even make use of the pinky rest on it, since mine fell way short of the RAT 7 rest and sits highly uncomfortably on the Mionx 5000. I try to steer away from ambidextrous mice if they result in my fingers sitting against the other sides buttons. I just can't stand the way that feels. (I'm looking at you Sensei MLG).

The Roccat Kone XTD was amazing except the sharp cut over on the right side of the mouse resulted in a lot of pain after 10-15 minute and, from what I can see, the Pure and the Savu both share that same design.

I'm to the point now where I'm looking at mice that will allow for me to switch between palm and claw grips, regardless of how good/bad the sensor might be. I never use more than 3000-4000 dpi and generally keep myself in the 500-2000 range, regardless how much the mouse may or may not allow. I find myself looking at bizarre mice that don't even appear to be sold stateside, I can deal with a little less sensor accuracy if it means my finger does not feel like it's going to fall off. The problem is I never know until I buy the mouse and then I'm in the hole a sizable sum of money. I've purchased all of the above mice in the last two years.

I looked at the Aiva Krypton but I'm concerned about bumping into the buttons on the right side of the mouse. The box doesn't allow you to palm it either so I can't get a feeling for things. I've checked into the newly announced cm storm havoc and the wide right side might provide a good rest but as it's not out yet I'm looking for something to get for now if only to hold me over.

Templarius Gladiator Mouse

This is an interesting mouse and it might sit right in my hand but the reviews are pretty scarce outside of some non-english reviews in youtube. I watched them if only to see the hand placement and it looked decent.

Tesoro Shrike H2L Laser Gaming Mouse

I also looked into this one since it was thinner on the back with a slight platform at the bottom I could use as a resting point.

I am aware that both mice are not the greatest in the world but I'm trying to find something with gaming options and comfort, so I'm limited to an extent. I'm also getting desperate here so I'm looking way off the beaten path for anything that I might be able to salvage some use out of until a better mouse comes along.

This entire issue makes me feel like an idiot at times but I've spent to much money to keep pissing it away, time to get others input before moving forward. Thanks in advance for any advice/thoughts.

I feel you, man. I have pain, too. And small hands. I am using the Zowie FK currently. It fits great, but I still have pain. I have arthritis, so I feel like I am probably doomed to have SOME pain with any mouse. But maybe someone can chime in with a solution and not just more *****ing, which is probably all I'm good for.

Have you tried the Logitech G400/G400s? They're basically cheaper Kone XTDs with better sensors and rounder features. If the sensor is completely irrelevant, you may also want to try the Logitech MX500, MX510, MX518, G5, G500/G500s, G7, G700/G700s, or the Razer Imperator. They're all similar to the Kone XTD in shape. Some of them probably have exactly the same shape, but I wouldn't know which.

If all else fails, try a mouse mimicking the Razer Diamondback's shape. There's plenty of them around from all kinds of brands, ranging from cheap to incredibly cheap. Try a web search for "Cobra Jr." or "Hama uRage".
