Upgrade/Build Log

Thread Starter
Hi all!

So it's time for a clean/upgrade. As I was in the process of upgrading last time I ended up needing to switch jobs, and was lacking funds for a while, so I made do with what I had already and could get 2nd hand.

Basically I'm looking to re-route my hideous loop. I'm open to any suggestions how to route this damn thing, keeping in mind there is also an XSPC bay res/pump hidden away as well.

Edit: So it's time to redo my loop. For anyone interested ill be uploading some horrible photos of some test fitting and my final product.

New parts will consist of fittings, reservoir, radiator and some tubing and cabling bits.
I wish I had more cash to get fans as well, but I'm making do so I can save for my trip to Phuket wink.gif

Stay tuned!

Just to clarify for me, this pic shows the direction of flow? The red is a bleed spout, and the green is.....?

Looks like his pump, or maybe a rad? Could be a rad+fillport, but that's a weird spot for it.

Sorry for any typos or the image - on mobile.

Yeah, we're not going to be able to help with ANYTHING until you give us some more info.

-What temps are you getting?
-What pump do you have?
-What fans are on your radiator?
-What is the fin thickness, and fins per inch of your rads? (easier to just link the rads)
-What waterblock do you have for your CPU and GPU?

Actually I lied before, there is one thing I can help with: Get a 90degree angle compression fitting (or barb) for your graphics card, that randomly angled tube looks odd XD (and probably adds unnecessary restriction to the loop, as you could probably cut off about 6inches of tubing without it.

Well yeah that's what it looks like, but he said he has a bay res/pump up in there. I couldn't think of anything terribly useful that would sit right under the GPU like that. It certainly looks like a pump, but he wouldn't need two. And a fillport at the bottom of the loop? Yikes I hope not.

The black thing is a 655 variable pump with an EK top

Order is 360 rad - CPU - XSPC bay res/pump - t fitting - swiftech variable with EK top - 670 EK block - back to rad.

Will post back at home, all in really worried about is aesthetics of the loop order - best fittings etc.

I'm puzzled by your second pump.
A couple 90s and 45s (rotaries) would solve a lot of large-radius bend issues for you no sweat.
I would also look into how critical that T-fitting and bleed section are for you. They're kind of an eyesore and extend that segment of tubing by several unnecessary inches.

I agree, two pumps is completely unnecessary in this loop. On top of that, there is two MCP655s. MCP655s have a notable heatload, so having two of them just adds extra heat to the loop, for no real benefit.

What waterblock do you have?

Again, what radiator do you have. Telling us you have a 3.120mm is useless if we don't know it's fin density, or thickness. You are asking us for advice on how to improve performance without giving us any info into has your current rig runs biggrin.gif

Please fill out the answers I listed earlier, and we'll def get back to you tongue.gif

I think he isn't looking for an overhaul, just an aesthetic improvement.
(but cutting out a pump you don't need could help both in this case)

Okay I'm home.

Sorry sorry sorry, I was out and about and wasn't thinking haha!

Main two components are:

2600k @ 4.4ghz 1.2 v.core - idles about 8-9° above ambient
GTX 670 @ stock atm - idles about 3-4° above ambient

Serdin is right btw, mainly an aesthetic improvement, my temps are awesome.

My loop goes:

XSPC RX360 w/ 3 AP15's and 3 XSPC stock fans
XSPC Rasa block
XSPC Bay Res/Pump combo - x20 pump btw, its not a 655.
Down into my T-Fitting - it's so long just for easier access, it's usually hidden but I want to do it right and not half assed!
Swiftech D5 Variable Pump with the EK top
EK block on my 670 - I need to put the little attachment on it to get the fittings to face forwards and not down
Back up into my RX360.

edit: why has OCN rotated my image...

Here's another image to help get an idea. Basically I have the extra pump because it was brand new for $35au, and I couldn't let that go as they go for $100 new!
