That extra 400MHz might put the odds in favor of the FX6350 overclocking better. In the end tho its all the silicone lottery so it will come down to the particular CPU you get. smile.gif

Then again it might come to what's the highest bus speed tey would be stable at. If the FX6*** series is capped by a low bus speed then maybe the multi will come in hand and if this is how it is then then if the FX63500 has a higher multi, it would overclock further smile.gif. Given the TDP however i would take my chances with the FX6300 unless going in for a very good and little expensive board is a problem as overclocking would increase the TDP significantly.

So what are you thinking? 6350 or 6300? I would like the higher stock clock

Tbh at this point I would reccomend waiting for steamroller. I Know it can be painful waiting but the 965 is a good CPU and I believe that the new revision of the fx line is due to drop before the end of this year. As much as I love my 8320 my reccomendation is to hold off.

Yes the extra stock clock would be good. But then again on the FX6300 you could just increase the multi and get it upto the stock clocks of the FX6350 without any trouble. My suggestion would to be to go for whichever is cheaper smile.gif

Oh really? Hmm. I may have to wait. My next CPU upgrade is gonna be with me for a good 4-5 years like this phenom was. Any idea when in Q4 I can expect it?

Side note - what do you think of the rumored 5ghz chip for 800 bucks?

If Steamroller is unlock then it will not be worth it. If you look at the 45nm vs. 32nm AMD chips on speed. 45nm average around 4.0-4.2ghz and the 32nm average around 4.5-5.0ghz, so the 28nm average should be around 5.0ghz+.
