yes that is exactly what im saying, its just distributing 2 threads over the 4 available cores. you are only ever using 2 cores at any given time to run sc2, its just spreading out all the workload for thermal efficiency.(maybe other reasons aswell)

re anything over 3570, to put in perspective, if you had unlimited money and all you cared about was sc2 performance you would buy the absolute highest overclocking chip you could and put it on the best water setup. it would still grind to sub-60 at times I think. so while the average gamer would be very pleased with the performance of the chip, a pro with money probably wouldn't even consider it.

Last time I checked, my CPU is barely used in SC2 (unless im on a custom map with alot of variables). My CPU usage rarely goes over 40%

Dunno how you managed to get 40% overall CPU load mate. I don't think i have EVER seen anything REMOTELY close to 40/40/40/40% split on four cores either.

And of course your GPU is max load. It'll be max load at the start of the game, but good luck getting it over 20-50% when you are having performance issues (read; not at triple digit fps, without forcing ui-blurring aa)

I gotta write that down, it's a good one.

Those with AMD chips wil be more likely to know how painful it is to have their $1000+ system struggle to deliver 20-30 fps on a DX9 game that is three years old, and an expansion that uses the same engine with minor tweaks. Even the new 8350 is still having a hard time keeping up, barely matching and i3. So strictly for SC2 Intel is still the way to go at least for now, be it Ivy or Haswell.
