You really didn't put much effort in this post, did you?

Some more information would be useful:
-games you will play
-resolution you want them to play at / multiple monitors
-things you'll do besides gaming.

Hi james! biggrin.gif Welcome to OCN. For just 1080p I'd say a 7870 would be a good choice, but make sure you get one with a Tahiti LE chip, it's just a slightly cut down 7950.
For PSU, I'd go with a Corsair or Seasonic 650W PSU. Maybe not necessarily those brands, but whatever you do don't buy a cheapo no-name PSU, sure way to fry your system.
For CPU a 3570 would be a good choice, but if you want to save money go for a Sandy Bridge i5, I think the 2500 or 2600 are good choices.
Mobo of your choice depending on what colour scheme/features you want, just stay in the $100-$150 range. Ditto for case, spend around $150.
For HDD get a 1TB 7200 rpm model, or 500 GB if you're running out of money, will probably be fine so long as you have good data management.
Just go for 2x4 GB 1600 MHz RAM, that's enough for gaming and only costs around $60, but go for 2x8 GB if you're going to do any heavy editing

My sig computer "Fresh Mint" you can see all the parts on mine and its Intel based with Nvidia for GPU and I got it all for just under $1200 and i think prices have come down just a tad. Its an amazing system and I do almost exactly what you do ..... Its capable of playing every game i throw at it on very high res including Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light ( I do have to turn down like MSAA a tad but otherwise all maxed out ) I play on 1080p and works great. I run my 3770k at 4.5Ghz and I run a mild Overclock on my 660ti and both are a beast.... Would highly recommend a build close to mine. You could go a tad small PSU but i was planning ahead for getting another 660ti SLI.

Good Luck

P.S. my sig also contains my peripherals like my mouse and keyboard and headset .... not including that in the $1200 cost

Here's what I would go with. I left out the case because that's personal preference and you should choose how much you want to spend on one, and which brand/model to get. 7870XT is a very good GPU that's inbetween the 7870 and 7950, and when overclocked will push beyond the stock 7590 which we be great frames in any game. You could swap out the RAM for G.Skill 1866 if you want, but I personally don't like the look of it.
