Another 7950 or go from 1100T to 3770k/4770k? for WoW?

Thread Starter
I have a 1100T 6 Core AMD (STOCK, can't overclock as it hits a dead wall even with good cooling - water cooled)

I have 8GB Ram 1600. Gskill

I have ONE 7950 (sapphire)

Run this on a 24"

Now,

Shall I upgade the CPU... to Intel 3770k/4770k

OR get a 2nd 7950 to CF

What should I do?

WoW loves intel. Get a 3770k/4770k.

But would I not get more FPS out of another GPU 7950?

Second GPU will do almost nothing. That cpu upgrade will probably double your fps. WoW also likes Nvidia / intel. When I switched from a FX-8120 to a 3570K I almost doubled performance. When I swapped between a 7970 and 680, Nvidia gave about 20% more performance. This was all in the MOP expansion.

at 1980x1080 rezz.. all settings high, every single one.

My FPS in WOW MIST in a main city is about 30-40 with lots of people with the 1100T,

What will a 3770k do compared to the 30-40 (LOW END FPS - not interested in high end FPS)

Its hard to give an exact number since people are always moving around, but I tested in the same spots of SW and MOP capital with about 15 people in the area give or take a couple, I also tested in the starting area of MOP on my flying mount where there is a ton of trees etc and in the Klaxxi area flying around following a path. Then I tested in 40vs40 BG's.

On average your 30-40fps in the area you mentioned will probably go up to 45-65 on the low end which is about a 50% increase for that area. That is what I was getting with my 7970 and 3570k there. Changing to a 680 bumped it up to 50-70. Then going SLI did nothing. This was all on max details including shadows and view distance with AA/AF.

Your answer was EXACTLY want I wanted to know.

Thank you so much.

Now.. shall I just wait for 4770k rather than getting 3770k now?

you are a prime candidate for haswell. we need testers.biggrin.gif

seriously, haswell is here why invest on the old tech.

edit: wait, why is your thuban stock? i have that mobo and oc'ed my chip to 4.5GHz for benching. at least 4GHz unless you have a poor oc'er. i can see your fps going up with a little oc.
