HT not detected

Thread Starter
I have a HT ready processor, Mobo, and chipset. Yet I do not have it running on my system. I have dealt with the mobo support, and they say I need a fresh install of windows. I can't do that because it is pre installed software. Bios does not give me the option, but even if it did it is supposed to be enabled by default.

Is there anything in windows that anyone knows of that I may have turned off, or a way to enable or access it through windows... I have XP pro SP2.

How do you know that its turned off? Have you looked in Task Manager>>Performance? See if their are 2 seperate boxes for CPU Usage. If it is turned off and is supposed to be turned on by default and there is no Option in Bios to enable it, then a recovery or repair using the Recovery Disc might be your only option.

Anyone else got any ideas?

EDIT:

ftp://ftp.biostar-usa.com/manuals/P4...M80-M7bios.pdf

Read this....according to the manual there IS a bios option for HT Enable/Disable. Read your manual.

Yeah I worked with biostars support, and pointed that out to them, but they indicated a new install of the OS would be needed. If it was not detected then it does not appear in the bios.

I looked in my device manager, and in performance, and am certain it is not turned on.

I was hoping there would be a fix without reinstalling windows. Maybe
