so who preordered grid 2? - Page 4

Why so funny? Forza and GT5 are far better than any arcade racer on the pc, including Grid1 and Shift1/2, dirt3, etc,. iRacing, well that's just a different ballgame altogther.

Make no mistake kids, this is an arcade racer, just like Grid1. What I am asking is this one better than the first as it was rather mediocre.

I play iRacing with my G27 ,but these arcade racers I tend to play with the x360 controller.

So why ask if it's in the same league as them if you understand that it isn't?

I was waiting for some first impressions and maybe reviews to buy the game... but now I'm being punished for trying to make an informed decision on buying it. So if I had pre-ordered... $45... since I didn't... now it's $74.mad.gif

I am asking because I haven't played it and it very well could be better than Forza or GT5? Is that hard to understand? Maybe I worded wrong?

Here lets try again. Hey is this Grid 2, arcade racer, as good as other arcade racer currently on the market, IE GT5/Forza and Dirt 3? Or is it a carbon copy updated of the original?

I couldn't get into GRID 1. I haven't been able to put down GRID 2.

Because Grid 2 is nowhere near being in the same league as GT5/Forza as you already surmised.

While I'm sure there are plenty of people who will enjoy it for what it is, it's getting lambasted pretty much everywhere as being inferior to the original, which itself was not exactly top tier.

Ah! My bad. See I think my self and many already assumed that Grid is more in the vein of Grid 1 and the NFS games. Which are simply trying to be arcadey... while Forza and GT5 try to be simcades. Those games have nearly 1000 cars each and go out of their way to be realistic, while Grid obviously won't. It just seemed like a stupid question to me and that's why I found it funny. Again, my bad. tongue.gif

Yeah but most people that play iRacing, sim -racers, tend to put GT5/Forza in the 'arcade' category, much like Grid series. I have no problem playing an arcade racer or sim, they are both equally interesting, albeit I can't for the life of me play those Need For Speed/Burnout games.

The thing that Grid1 got right which everyone else completely fails at , including (oddly enough) the Dirt series, is that the cars have a weighted feel to them, you feel like you are in control of something that has a kerbside weight, Dirt series felt like the back end was full of helium.

Other racers (not sims) just bounce around without any real sense of damage or the penalties that go with ripping your bumper off and nudging a wheel out of alignment.

So if Grid 2 is the same wonderful combination of arcade plus driving sensation as the first, it will be a winner in my book.

I did not say that Forza/GT were sims either... I said simcades... meaning that they try to ride the line between arcade and sims.
