[Build log] Danisumi's 900D Blue Abstergo Theme Build

Thread Starter
So, hello everybody. I want to introduce myself. I'm 16 years old and I live in Switzerland. I'm kinda new to building pc's/watercool pc's. My first ever self built machine is working and working since 2 years ( I know, it's not that long wheee.gif*that's what she said*lachen.gif). I have an apprentice ship as an design engineer/constructer or whatever you call it. At this point I want to excuse me for my bad english. But I hope you'll understand it anyways. I hope this little introduction is enough for now.

The Case I am going for is the Corsair Obsidian 900D (still waiting to get mine delivered). I'll watercool everything and the color I am going for is blue. All the parts for the watercooling I'm going to buy later. Hate me for that, but I'll put my old rig in the 900D for a wile.

The only thing to say now is, I try to do all my best for this first time ever full watercooled rig. I'm going to go for Custom Pieces too, so my Case will stand out from the croud, hopefully thumb.gif

All those Pictures will get taken by my Nokia Lumia 920. I hope that's enough for Quality Pictures, because I don't really want to spend much money on a camera, which I won't use often.

Give me a chance and I'll make you proud. smile.gif

Parts list update: 26.08.2013

Case: Corsair Obsidian 900D

The part list will get updated somehow sometime biggrin.gif

So, for the first update I'll show you one part of my build, the fans.
I'll use Noiseblocker eLOOP's B12-1(800rpm) for the case and eLOOP's B12-2 for the Radiators. Unfortunately these fans come only in white. But I had an idea and just implemented it.

I bought one to test it out and see how loud it is etc.

First there was this and then there was that.

This was taken while it still was drying.

This is my favourite Shot. I have it as my desktop background smile.gif

I'll show you tomorrow how I painted them exactly.

Not to say too much from the package. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Flexlights aaaand more fans
the flexlights are like the first fan, just to try it and look how good they are and if the quality is good, I'l buy more of them

Since I'm not a rich kid and I have to get my money first (apprenticeship, like I mentioned) I do need more time to get really every part for my build, so this build log will extend over months I think.
But I hope it'll be fine for you all. I'll try to be as fast as possible, so you don't have to wait that long and I'll try to get every feedback and implement it.
Feedback is welcome.

As I already wrote before I'll post now a little instruction on how to paint the fans. I know I should have done it a bit more professional,
but I like the way they look and there's not really a thing which I would actually change.
In this post I will also show you what I got in my package biggrin.gif

Full package with 11 fans....

...24 pin extension cable and 60cm phobya flexlights blue

Those are 4 blue fans with both LED flexlights (one behind the fans and one on the front)

only the flexlight behind is turned on

unfortunately the camera doesn't capture the light very good, but I still want to show the pics

a shot with my "old" build, I'm going to show you the specs sometimes later.

The Flexlights with my setup. Going into further detail later

Quick comparison under "yellow" light, between the blue and white ones. There are 11 fans out of 12.
As I mentioned earlier I bought the first fan about a month ago and it's in my actual rig.

All these Accessoires came with the fans smile.gif

Box content of the fans. 8 Rubber grommets for the screwholes, that the screws don't give any vibration to the case.
4 screws, 4 knurled nuts, the fan itself and 2 sleeved fan cables. (20cm and 50cm)

You can use both sleeved cables, so that you have a 70cm long cable which looks pretty nice. I do like the sleeving on it.

The flexlights come with duct tape to stick them to any position you want. I also bought an extension cable (24pin), because
I don't know if my PSU will have any problems or not with the 900D. But only time can tell. (Still 2 or 3 weeks to go, said my retailer)

Side by Side comparison under LED light with 2 freshly painted fans and 2 "original" fans.

As I told you, I want to show you how I painted them. Those were the parts which I needed. The fan, a color spray and a wood stick thumb.gif

The first thing you do, is taking the Impeller out of the Frame. Check:thumb:

I used a wooden stick with a diameter of 30mm and I drilled a hole with a diameter of 3-3.5mm
I don't know the exact diameter anymore, but it works for me thumb.gif

The next step was put the Impeller on the stick. I don't know the exact sentence to say it, but the Impeller just stayed nice and tight on the stick.
The last step was to paint it and let it dry, as I showed you in previous pictures.

Last Side by Side comparison under LED light between both fans, "before and after"
This time while they're both running at 12V.

oh, and I forgot to mention, that you shouldn't paint the part, where you put it on the motor. Otherwise the fan won't work!

Hope you all like it thumb.gif

As for now, I don't really don't know what kind of GPU's I'll use. The Question is if I should get the dual SLI EVGA GTX 780 Hydro Copper, dual SLI EVGA gtx 780 and watercool them with other waterblocks or triple SLI with GTX 770 when they come out (of course watercooled). If EVGA comes out with 770 Hydro Copper, I might go as well with them.
The last choice I could make would probably be, to wait another year for the next Gen of GPU's.

You guys have any recommendation for me?

For the CPU, I'll probably upgrade my i7-2600 to a i7-3930K. (since no other Extreme Series CPU comes out this year) damn you Haswell worriedsmiley.gif

Nice pack of fans thumb.gif

Might get those for my "sleeper" aswell rolleyes.gif

I would wait sli benchmarks until deciding which one to get, what kind of screen setup you are going to run? 3 screens i guess?

Still not sure, I must decide between these options:
1. I buy 2 other 24" displays and it's fine (nVidia Surround)
2. I buy 3 new screens for triple screen setup with 3d vision (nVidia Surround with 3D vision)

Not quite sure, even thought not every game is nice with 3D vision with surround, but on the other end you can turn off 3D easily, so that's not the problem.
Just to say, worst case scenario 3 Monitors with 3D smile.gif

that's a nice blue you've got there... I've been thinking about getting those NB e-loops as well, and paint them with tamiya spray paint (french blue), but I'm afraid that the difference in thickness and weight might affect the aerodynamics of the fans and change the noise (which might be worse). did you notice any difference at all, compared to the unpainted ones? that would help a lot.. smile.gif

looking forward to seeing those fans inside the case.. do you have plans for the case? paint them blue/white? biggrin.gif
