Need help with gaming rig ~800 budget

Hey,

So I need help with a gaming computer. I need to be able to stream at at least 720p without dropping any frames (my internet is fine). Also needs to be able to do a lot of photoshop related stuff. Everything that I buy here is meant to last me for quite a while.

I have something set up:
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Kaoculus/saved/1ETb

The problem is that all I have is a really really terrible laptop atm. I have the remains of a desktop that randomly died and can't be revived. However, I can salvage a few things from it:

A decent GPU, 2x4GB RAM, a case, and a hdd.

Someone else is buying me a PSU, so the only thing I really need is a CPU/mobo combo, and I am good to go for now. However, I only have around 250-260 to spend. I am planning on buying the rest of the parts slowly, but the really importan two are teh CPU/mobo combo. Does anyone have any suggestions or is mine fine as it is? (You can change teh whole thing around too, just asking for opinion).

Thanks.

Is this pounds or dollars?

I dont understand Kaoculus, are those parts what you have now then minus of course the cpu and mobo, or are these parts you intend to buy in the future at some point?

Switch the 3570 for an FX-8350 and a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3. It will save you some money and the 8350 is better at streaming than the 3570K. Also switch the 7870 for a 7870 XT which is the same price but more powerful. Also you can get DDR3-1600 ram for the same price as that 1333 ram.

not sure I understand ur budget

if you are looking for a cpu/mobo under $260 total that's going to be tough.

for flawless streaming I recommend a K series cpu u can overclock, if your comfortable with OCing and can afford it.

any decent mobo with the features you need from a reputable manufacturer will serve you well. if OCing make sure its one with a chipset that supports it.

it really depends what games you are streaming, anything CPU intensive will fight with your stream. I think it also depends whether you are encoding video on your end, im assuming you are. transcoding or whatever it is, im not that familiar.

basically if you task your cpu with encoding your stream to 720p and playing your game, and your game uses 4 cores, then every bit of processor power you can afford will help with smooth streaming. (since you are on a budget your not going to have too much power for your needs)

eg LoL will be fine with your setup, bf3 will lag hard at high settings, sc2 will lag but not much. etc.

so to summarize, if you are streaming a game that doesn't use much cpu, or only uses 2 cores worth, you will be fine with your proposed build, great if you got a K series and OC it. games that use a lot of your cpu already may not perform super awesome with a stock cpu @ 3.4 GHz when streaming due to cpu bottleneck.

super lastly, more cpu wont hurt your photoshop experience.

Assuming that you're asking for a USD $260 CPU/MOBO combo, the best I can find is the following:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($185.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($72.99 @ Newegg)

You won't be able to OC it or run SLI/CFX, but it's a very solid combination otherwise.

Look into the microcenter intel bundles, you can nab a 3570k and a asrock z77 extreme4 for just over $260.
No idea how they sell it so cheap but grab it while its there, I personally just nabbed the 3770k+ sabertooth z77 bundle for my upcoming build, its shockingly cheap thumb.gif

Ahh I see, you might struggle to couple a 3570 with a motherboard for under $260, the cpu alone costs over 200.
