AMD PhenomII 945 question

Thread Starter
Hi, I'm completely new to overclocking and have an AMD 945 quad core at 3.0ghz.

I've tried searching all over the site and cant find any info on this CPU. I'm starting to get 90-99% load on my processor when playing BF3. And would like to get some basic software that will help me get a simple overclock on it, maybe get it up to 3.3ghz or something. I run MSI afterburner on my GPU and love how easy it is to use.

I have 12 gigs of DDR3 ram, and an Antec Max Cooler. I would really appreciate some guidance on where to go. I really have no clue where to start and have only used MSI afterburner before. Thanks

amd's overdrive software works pretty well, but it's best to go through your bios to get a proper overclock.

The nicest way to overclock is to go into your bios and increase your fsb by increments of 5mhz. See how much you can do by what will hold stable. If it's not stable then you might have to add some voltage.

Don't forget to overclock the CPU/NB a little too. Phenom II's get a good little bump in performance when this is overclocked. 2600 MHz is generally the sweet spot. But yeah, youre better off working in the BIOS. That's not an unlocked chip IIRC so youll have to do everything with the FSB clock instead which is a little trickier.

If it's a C3 Revision your looking at an easy overclock of 3.8Ghz. A good boost in performance.
