How can I cut an aluminum GPU heatsink?

Thread Starter
I'm about to undergo "The Red Mod" on my 7950 and need something to cool the VRM. I stumbled upon this:
http://www.swiftech.com/hd7900-hsf.aspx

Now, I'm using Dwood's Kuhler 620 bracket to mount the CLC on the GPU, and as far as I know that bracket is significantly bigger than the hole in this heatsink. How would I go about cutting this thing down to size? I don't know much about power tools and I definitely don't have any of my own, but I'm sure I could borrow any from a friend. Thanks!

I would use something like this
http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=15682
these are small ram heatsink or ramsinks
they are probably good enough to cool vrm if they get some airflow

A quality rotary tool such as a dremel should do you fine! Make sure you use the grey cutting discs (reinforced) that are meant to cut metal over the brown ones as the brown ones typically break into a bunch of pieces.

Just make sure you have proper safety equipment and the knowledge of operating an angle grinder.

i would check with Dwood and see just how much bigger it is or if it will fit. i dont know if i would cut something like that, maybe file if need be but there is probably a better heatsink solution to pair with Dwood's mounting barcket

Any idea how many I'd need? I'm not TOO sure what to identify on my PCB as requiring a heatsink

Each RAM chip on the same side of the PCB as the GPU will need a heatsink as well as the VRMs need heatsinks. That's 12 RAM chips you need to cover and about 8-10 MOSFETs if this is reference.
