Time for an upgrade!

Thread Starter
I currently have an Asus VS247h-P monitor and I think it's time to finally go to the 27" range! I have absolutely no knowledge when it comes to buying the right monitor and what I can get for my money. My VS247H-P has a lot of lag when it comes to FPS games which really sucks since I mostly just play Battlefield 3. On the topic of games I only play bf3(bf4 in the future), dota2, and Sc2 hot. I also do some photo editing on lightroom and CS5. So my question is can you guys suggestion me a good 27" monitor for games and photo editing? My price range is $500.

Looking at Newegg plenty of choices sub $500 for 27" 1080p monitors but none that I can find with an increased resolution (1440p or greater) so IMO not really worth going to 27" as such.

Dell Ultrasharp series or HP ZR series are very nice to work with but they are more expensive and depending on model cost $650-900.
