650w enough for GTX 780 and 3770K?

Thread Starter

Hey all, looking to upgrade my gpu and I have a concern. I have sold my 7950 and am upgrading to a GTX 780. Although I'm not sure if my PSU will be able to handle it. My power supply is a SeaSonic M12II 650w. I also have an i7 3770K overclocked to 4.4Ghz @ 1.23v. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section but I'd really like to not buy my new gpu and end up not even being able to use it. Cheers all!

YUP!

I use a 650w with my 3970x and Titan and never an issue.

You could easily get away with 550w, let alone 650w.

I'd recommend the Rosewill Capstone line over the Seasonic M12II, however. Higher-quality components and more efficient to boot.

Capstone 550-M $99 shipped @ Newegg.ca
Capstone 750-M $129 shipped @ Newegg.ca (the 650w modular model is out of stock)

Thanks all! That really puts my thoughts at rest, wasn't planning on tacking on the price of a new psu to the 650$ worth of gpu. And if you are wondering why I am getting a 780 for a single 1080 panel, I'm buying 2 more so I will need the horses tongue.gif
