Sapphire HD7970 Vapor X OC'ing Help Please - Page 2

I had to switch to Trixx 4.4.0b mod because 4.6 would freeze my computer, so far all is good with 4.4.

There is no option for constant voltage with the current version of trixx that I am using. I have done more testing with games and stress testing, seems stable at 1185/1600 1.256 VDDC 1.500M VDDC.

Still have bad Vdroop while stress testing with this setup, not to bad while gaming 1.242V idol and 1.217V to1.234V during game play.

One other thing I also noticed while stress testing was that occasionally the GPU core would drop from 1185 to 1000 then back up ?

Still not sure if I am doing this wrong or maybe I feel like I should be able to get more out of this card for the fact its supposed to be a premium card.

Thanks dir_d for all the help:thumb: and if there is anything else you can think of please let me know

Bump for some help, Please!!!

Now my card is dropping the GPU clock while gaming from 1175 to 1000 to 501 and back and forth. It does that no matter what clock speed I run it at, does that mean the card is faulty ?

Thanks

Usually the changes in clock speeds are due to a lack of load, so the GPU tries to save power and underclock itself.

If this is happening mid game (ie not in the in-game menus/cutscenes) and you know that the framerates should be better then something isn't right. BTW what game are you testing with this?

If you haven't already try updating Catalyst to the latest non-beta version.

Thank you for the response smile.gif

It happens while in game not at loading screens.

I have been testing with Crysis 3 and WoW, stress test are Furmark and Heaven.

Currently I am using 13.5 with 13.5 caps1, have not tried the new 13.6 beta yet.

Also I have DLSP disabled in Trixx and reg.

Thanks

So aside from me having issues with my OC does it seem like maybe this card is starting to fail ? because if so I need to get started on the RMA before my 30 days is up.

Still have not heard back from sapphire support and I only have a few days left to send this card back to newegg, I am kind of wishing I spent less money and got the normal 7970.

Thanks
