What are the pros and cons for plexi and acrylic?

Hey guys. Mycelus here. So Im planning on doing a side window for my Phantom 630, and I wanted to ask about the pros and cons between plexi and acrylic.

Which one is cheaper, clearer, easier to cut, more durable, etc etc

Thanks for your time in advance

Mycelus, Plexi and acrylic are basically the same thing. The product was brought to market in 1933 under the trademarked name Plexiglas. Basically it's all acrylic sheet. You have extruded and cast acrylic sheet, with cast being the better one. Other names it's known by:

ACRYLITE®[7]
Lucite[8]
Plexiglas[9]
Optix (Plaskolite)[10]
Perspex[11]
Oroglas
Altuglas

Here is the best places I buy my acrylic sheet:

Go for cast acrylic for your window or for something stronger use Polycarbonate sheets, just stay away from the fumes....and have fun!!!!

I see, so 'Plexiglas' is just a trademarked name for acrylic.

Can I not get good quality acrylic at a hardware store locally? I don't really want to purchase from random online sites.

Acrylic is clearer than plexiglass. More closer visually to glass versus plastic.

Edit: after reading a few articles it looks like I was incorrect. Sorry

I see. So plexiglas is a lower quality type acrylic I'd imagine?

Other question I asked earlier still remains.

Does really no one know anything about acrylic..? /:?

Is there any sort of way to gauge the clarity on the acrylic sheets? Would I be better off buying from a hardware store such as Lowe's or Home Depot, or should I buy online?

Buy from Delvie's Plastics online. Better selection, better price. I buy sheets from them 10 at a time, 24"x24"x1/8". They can cut to specific size too.

Acrylic will always have a slight static charge. It will attract and cling dust and other flaky things like a magnet. Use an appropriate acrylic cleaner/polish and it'll reduce the static effect.
