Lets see iam gonna set a resonable yet high goal 4 myself dont pay attention if i over do things thats usually my style lol but here goes....completly watercooled no fans unless i have to use em, ive seen some newer systems and ill do my best to describe what it is iam looking for. Better yet ill jusy post a picture maybe u guys can tell me what these new wc parts are called beacuse they look awsome!...i.dont plan to take it to lan partys iam not into that sort of thing so no worries if its outside wc or inside, budget wise lets set a resonable goal like this....$5000 thousand spread over 4/5 months tineframe what can we do with this?

here are my thoughts and logical thinking.

now that all three next gen systems will be using AMD for Graphics, you'll likely see most games that are cross platform run much better with an AMD Card vs Nvidia.
how i figure this is because all of these game makers will be trying to push the limits of the amd architecture.
next up the 680 vs the double priced titan in single card configuration actually outperforms its double $$ "so called big brother" card.
at this point i think Nvidia have just lost their minds.

for cpu, cant go wrong with an i7-3770k
and for motherboard, cant go wrong with a MSI Mpower

both of them i have myself..

should you choose that i would win the cards, it would really help out my childrens build, their graphics card is on its last leg.
thanks for the chance

not to start a amd vs Intel discussion (please I'm friendly lol) wouldn't the 8350 be more future proof with 8 cores and the future consoles being optimized for amd? I also whanna thank the op SOOOOO much for this oppertunity!

You previously mentioned that you wanted two cards - however, if you are interested in Tr-Fire/3-way SLI you will save yourself many headaches, possibly some cash, and debatably more/less performance - depending... Options here:

3 x 7970: 1200$ (or a 7990 and a 7970)
3 x 780: 2000$
3 x Titan: 3300$

Taking a look at the benchmarks, you will see an average of around 25-30% difference between the 7970 and the Titan. Considering that the cost is 250% as great - it makes no sense to go for anything other than 3 x 7970's.

Even if you have a massive budget - you would be better off to get 3 x 7970's and then next year, get a new set, followed by the year after, and so forth. This way, as games become more demanding, you would purchase cards that best the Titans, at a reduced cost - when you needed them.

The Bench - have a look.

Also, we should talk motherboards go. Everyone is going to recommend what they have. Resist the temptation.

The GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP7 is the board you want.

The only reason I personally got a Maximus V Extreme was because I absolutely needed thunderbolt. If you don't need thunderbolt, this board is better:

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 100

This board will support your GPU needs, as well as providing plenty of IO and it features the tightest OC voltage and phase controls around.

As always, a little treat:

No because:

- The 3770 is 49% faster in single-threaded programs.
- The 3770 processor has 10% higher performance when running multi-threaded applications.
- The 3770 is 15% faster in memory-intensive programs.
- Power consumption of the 3770 microprocessor is lower.
- The 3770 has far better motherboard options

For ~120$ more...

This is a very tough choice, I would take the 3970 > 3770 > 3930. Have a look at the overall and single threaded charts provided - keep in mind that the 3770k will overclock the best, and that single threaded performance is the most important factor here (with overall performance mattering mostly for multitasking:

Single Threaded:

Overall:

The 3970 does not justify the extra cost - and 3770 provides better motherboard choices - like a Maximus or Gigabyte. Be sure to use watercooling - however that is a discussion for another day. As you can see in the charts, the 3930 lacks single threaded performance, and the 3970 only offers superior overall performance - so considering that your objective is gaming, the price, performance, oc'ing ability, and motherboard choices make the 3770 my recommendation.

GPU's:

Each GPU will perform differently depending on the game. AMD cards typically crossifre better than nVidias. Here are some performance metrics for the two individual cards:

Blue: GTX 690
Red: AMD 7990

Performance:

Power/Heat:

A pair of AMD 7990's seems the obvious choice here - especially considering that when crossfired they will scale better. Make sure to put these under water as well.

Other things that should be heavily considered are the:

-PSU (Seasonic?)
-SSD (Raid 0 840 Pro's?)
-Cooling (Custom water loop?)

However, these are a discussion for another day...

Great to see OCN members stepping up and helping eachother out with charities like this - stickin together - yeahhhhh! Can I ask what new profession you have found? (super curious)

I must say I am dying for a quality GPU - my 7750's are quite the bottleneck.

Also, if you do decide to donate the cards - split the two cards up and give them to separate individuals - share the love!

Peace,

Feast

Oh, and a little something to make you salivate:

Quad 7990's anyone?

690 Won that run even though they traded blows depending on game. The 7990 is beast no doubt but quad fire 7990's just silly. Dual/Triple Titans under water will suffice, less headaches, MOAR FUN for less money biggrin.gif

OMG if money only grew on trees! lol........... Ok iam gonna say something here and I hope I don't offend anyone with this ok?
Iam far from an expert like u guys are ok? All I know is what I see here and read-Intel has been kicking amd around in the cpu department for the last year easy ( if not longer )..... So my point is this Amd is getting back on track ( no doubt ) but I have been hearing that same excuse from a lot of people-When games do use more cores AMD will come out ahead....Well here we are a year later and Intels still kicking our ass lol. I think I will pick-up an Intel i7 3770k like u guys are saying or the new haswell then I can possibly stick with amd for the graphics? I have amd fx 6100 myself iam not trying to bash anyone iam just saying I wanna see them step it up already you know? ..... That's a great excuse and all but this time around iam gonna put my money on the horse I know will win lol
Cpu wise iam only interested in gaming performance-If I have the money to drop on an intel extreme GREAT! if not the i7 3770k will do just fine, I also agree on the Gigabyte up7,that is 1 bad mother! According to the reviews its neck and neck with asus best rog boards! Really tuff choice when u have to pick between gigabyte and asus they both have some sick motherboards! ................Yeah someone here will get my 6970s and I hope they enjoy them,I know I have lol

AMD is more than fine, they are the brains to the next gen consoles (that alone speaks for itself). The 8 series is coming, we all get better prices smile.gif (WIN/WIN)

I hope so chief, iam in no way happy intel setting prices believe me lol!...........Isnt it the Amd jaguar they are using for ps3? or was that for the xbox>? That is HUGE contract I agree completely! ............... Don't wanna talk numbers but that really is HUGE I don't know how they pulled it off wow,but it looks like NVidia didn't wait around this time they pulled the trigger 1st on the 780-Iam really curious what its gonna bring to the table compared to amds 8000 series, those guys are usually neck and neck NVidia vs amd but that's better for us like u said!

I would wait for the Radeon 8000 series, the 8970 is going to be a monster.

I would upgrade everything else except for your GPUs now then get the 8970 when it comes out in about 5 months. thumb.gif

Congratulations on the job! smile.gif
